Báo Hải DươngBáo Hải Dương15/08/2023

On August 14, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported 29 districts, towns and cities with dengue fever patients, an increase of 121 cases compared to the previous week. Leading the way was Thanh Tri with 160 cases, followed by Thach That, Hoang Mai, Bac Tu Liem and Ha Dong. Compared to the same period last year, the total number of dengue fever cases increased nearly 5 times.

59 outbreaks occurred during the week, bringing the number of active outbreaks to 114. Some outbreaks have up to hundreds of patients, such as Phung Xa commune, Thach That district, with 324 patients; Vinh Ninh village, Vinh Quynh commune, Thanh Tri district, with 188 patients.

In the context of dengue fever increasing in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health requested the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to provide technical support in preventing and controlling dengue fever. At the same time, the Institute coordinated with the city to assess the situation and the causes of the increase, to prevent the epidemic from breaking out, spreading and prolonging.

On August 10, the Ministry of Health also requested localities to prevent and control dengue fever, due to the arrival of the rainy season. Since the beginning of the year, the country has recorded 57,295 cases of dengue fever, including 13 deaths in 8 provinces and cities. The number of cases and deaths has decreased compared to the same period last year but has tended to increase in recent weeks.

During August and September, Hanoi launched an environmental sanitation campaign, spraying chemicals to kill mosquitoes in high-risk areas with outbreaks. People were advised to clean up waste items containing stagnant water, where larvae and mosquitoes thrive.
