Businesses proactively respond to storms

From the end of September 2025 until now, due to the impact of storms No. 10 and 11, combined with post-storm circulation and the simultaneous discharge of floodwaters from large hydroelectric reservoirs such as Hoa Binh, Thac Ba, and Na Hang, many areas in Doan Hung commune have experienced flooding and landslides, especially in production areas along the Chay River and Lo River - where wood processing and plywood manufacturing enterprises are concentrated.

The company's goods have been moved to the embankment.

Unlike the severe damage in 2024, this year, thanks to proactive response measures, businesses in the area promptly relocated machinery, raw materials and goods to safe places, significantly minimizing damage and quickly stabilizing production after natural disasters.

According to statistics, during the Yagi storm circulation in 2024, the sudden rise in river water swept away many assets and machinery of businesses, causing damage of up to tens of billions of VND. Learning from this experience, when storms No. 10 and 11 were forecast to have widespread heavy rainfall (from 100-300mm), businesses proactively coordinated with the People's Committee of Doan Hung commune to develop specific and realistic disaster prevention plans.

Machinery and equipment have been moved out of the factory.

Comrade Lam Tran Nam - Vice Chairman of Doan Hung Commune People's Committee said: "Since the forecast of heavy rain, the commune has strictly implemented the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee and issued many documents guiding and directing people and businesses to deploy early and remote response measures. Thanks to that, all machinery, equipment, supplies and raw materials for production have been moved to safe locations, minimizing damage."

Reality at the scene shows that local businesses have shown a proactive, flexible and united spirit. Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai - Production Manager of the plywood factory, Toan Thang Trading Joint Stock Company shared: "Learning from the heavy damage last year, this year we have promptly implemented a flood prevention plan. As soon as we received notice from the authorities, the business directed workers to move equipment and goods to high places, at the same time mobilized vehicles, forklifts and asked for support from other businesses in the area. It is estimated that about ^2,000m3 of goods, worth 6-7 billion VND, were safely protected before the flood came."

In the context of increasingly unusual and extreme natural disasters, proactively building early response scenarios, investing in means and human resources for natural disaster prevention will be an effective "shield", protecting production and assets of enterprises. In particular, the smooth coordination between the government and enterprises in Doan Hung is a model that needs to be replicated. This is a valuable lesson in the work of preventing, combating and mitigating natural disaster risks, contributing significantly to helping enterprises maintain stable production and ensure social security in the locality.
