This morning, January 12, the People's Committee of Dong Ha City held a conference to review national defense and security work, build the foundation in 2023 and deploy directions and tasks for 2024.

In 2023, Dong Ha City continued to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the resolutions and conclusions of the Politburo on "Vietnam's National Defense Strategy", while closely following the directives, orders and instructions of Military Region 4 and the Provincial Military Command to focus on leading and directing the implementation of the National Defense and Security tasks and building the foundation in 2023 to achieve quite comprehensive results.

Party building, political ideology, training, drills, sports, and national defense and security education achieved high results. The work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2023 ensured 100% of the assigned targets, with good quality.

Strengthening the work of preventing and combating crimes by topic, route, and field, regularly launching peak campaigns to attack and suppress crimes to ensure security and order in the area. Dong Ha City Police have investigated and clarified 87/107 cases of violations of the law on social order (reaching a rate of 81.3%, exceeding 6.1% compared to the assigned target), arresting and handling violations of 152 subjects.

Detected 89 cases/92 subjects violating economic laws, total value of seized goods over 2 billion VND. Fight and handle 127 cases/199 subjects violating drug laws (decreased 20 cases/22 subjects compared to 2022), seized 62,331 synthetic drug pills... The rate of handling reports, denunciations of crimes and recommendations for prosecution reached 92.07% (exceeding the assigned target by 2.07%).

Localities regularly strengthen people's security and national defense, build a people's security posture associated with a solid national defense posture in the new situation.

Regarding the key tasks in 2024, Dong Ha City will continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term; and central and local directions on national defense and security. Focus on propaganda and education on national defense and security, raise awareness of the law, responsibility and obligation of citizens to participate in maintaining security and order.

Strengthen the leadership of Party committees at all levels in the work of building the people's armed forces at the grassroots level. Carry out well the work of ensuring political security and social order and safety. Promote the work of Party building, building a strong, disciplined, elite and gradually modern armed force.

On this occasion, Military Region 4 and the People's Committee of Dong Ha city commended many collectives and individuals with achievements in performing national defense and security tasks and building facilities in 2023.
