Coming to Nhan Thang today, everyone can feel the clear change, the village roads have been widened, decorated with flowers along the roadsides, making the rural picture here cleaner and more beautiful. Nhan Thang commune was established on the basis of merging 3 communes and towns of the old Gia Binh district. Before the merger, 2/3 communes and towns had completed new rural construction programs ( Binh Duong achieved advanced new rural commune in 2024; Nhan Thang achieved advanced new rural commune in 2021, Thai Bao commune has a roadmap to strive for advanced new rural commune).
Mr. Nguyen Ba Que's family, Ngo Cuong village, volunteered to donate land to widen the village road. |
One of the factors that helped Nhan Thang achieve the criteria in building new rural areas was the movement of donating land for road construction, helping the roads in the area to be longer and wider. Right after the locality had a policy of expanding village roads to meet traffic criteria, Mr. Nguyen Ba Que was the first person in Ngo Cuong village to be willing to demolish the fence and narrow the yard to donate land. Mr. Que said: "When the village cadres came to propagate and mobilize, my family moved more than 25m of the fence and gate, handing over the land to the construction unit. The expanded road not only helps people travel more conveniently but also benefits my family." Mr. Que also actively worked with village cadres, the Front Committee and local organizations to mobilize people to participate in donating land. In just a short time, 45 households on both sides of the road volunteered to donate nearly 600 square meters of residential land to complete the main road of Ngo Cuong village, expanding it from 3.5 meters to 5 meters, with some sections reaching 7 meters.
In other villages such as Cau Dao, Huong Trien, Cam Xa... many inter-village roads were also expanded. Households who did not have to donate land agreed to contribute labor and money to support the rebuilding of fences for households whose houses were demolished. According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Huyen, Head of the Economic Department of Nhan Thang Commune, the movement of donating land for road construction and new rural construction has spread widely throughout the villages and hamlets. People voluntarily donated land without asking for compensation, creating a large resource for the locality to develop the rural transport network. After 3 years of implementation, up to now, the whole commune has 765 households participating in donating land with a total area of nearly 9,900m2. Currently, 100% of the main roads in the renovated villages have a road surface of 5m or more; 100% of the village, inter-village and alley roads are concreted according to the current status. The intersections between the commune road and provincial road 285 and national highway 17 all have traffic lights, ensuring safety for traffic.
Along with focusing on traffic criteria, Nhan Thang commune also pays attention to implementing solutions to improve income criteria. The whole commune has converted 45.3 hectares of 2-rice land to grow fruit trees and vegetables, built a model of specialized agriculture , high-tech agriculture; formed a number of clean and safe agricultural production models with stable consumption markets, initially bringing high economic efficiency. Taking advantage of the National Highway 17 running through the area, Nhan Thang commune encourages people to develop trade and service industries. A system of supermarkets and convenience stores has been formed from the commune centers to the villages. Many markets such as Ngu, Tay, and Bung continue to be invested in and renovated, well meeting the needs of goods circulation and serving the people's lives. The whole commune has 1,270 service business households; 3 supermarkets and more than 20 convenience stores. The average income per capita in the commune reaches more than 70 million VND/person/year. The poverty rate in 2024 will decrease to 0.68%, by June 2025, there will be no more poor households in the commune according to the Central criteria.
From a purely agricultural area, Nhan Thang has risen to become a “livable countryside”. The commune strives to have an average income per capita of 100 million VND/year by 2030. With the efforts of the entire political system and the solidarity of the Party Committee and the people here, Nhan Thang is continuing to strive to become a ward by 2030.
