Flood forecast on Thuong River will recede slowly, flood on Cau River will peak at noon and afternoon on October 9.

According to the Bac Ninh Province Hydrometeorological Station, the water level on the Cau River and Thuong River in Bac Ninh Province is at alert level 3, exceeding the historical flood peak, and may peak and then slowly decline at noon and afternoon on October 9.

Accordingly, at 5:00 a.m. on October 9, on the Thuong River: At Cau Son, the flood level was 18.37m, 2.37m above alert level 3 (0.76m higher than the historical flood peak; At Phu Lang Thuong, it was 7.6m, 1.3m above alert level 3 (0.07m higher than the historical flood peak). On the Cau River, at Phuc Loc Phuong station, the flood level was 9.62m, 1.62m above alert level 3 (0.22m higher than the historical flood peak); at Dap Cau station, the flood level was 7.24m, 0.94m above alert level 3 (0.6m lower than the historical flood peak).

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, flood water levels at Cau Son station, Phu Lang Thuong will continue to remain at the peak level above alert level 3 and then slowly decrease. At Dap Cau station, water levels may rise to 7.35 - 7.45m, above alert level 3, with the possibility of peaking from noon to afternoon on October 9. At Phuc Loc Phuong station, flood water levels may rise to 9.60 - 9.80m, above alert level 3, with the possibility of peaking from noon to afternoon on October 9.

Bac Ninh Province's Hydrometeorological Station warns that in the context of high river water levels, it could cause widespread flooding in low-lying areas along rivers in communes and wards in the Thuong and Cau river basins.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Ninh province, as of 8:00 p.m. on October 9, the whole province had 3 people killed by floods; recorded more than 10,000 households had to evacuate their houses to safe places; more than 1,800 households were isolated; 1 reservoir was broken (Coi Gao Lake); 500m of canal was broken; 2 pumping stations were flooded; 162m of dyke was eroded; 1,680m of dyke had to be built to prevent overflow. The whole province had 61 overflow culverts; 102 roads were deeply flooded and impassable; 135 landslides; more than 8,000 hectares of rice and crops were flooded; more than 1,400 hectares of fruit trees were flooded...

With the viewpoint of "ensuring the safety of people's lives is above all and first", Bac Ninh province has been implementing urgent measures to prevent and combat floods according to the alarm level. Urgently organize dike protection work, ensure the safety of dikes, dams, mobilize maximum forces, means and materials to promptly handle incidents from the first hour; use all measures to approach deeply flooded and isolated areas to promptly provide food relief to households at risk of hunger, absolutely not letting people go hungry or thirsty.

The leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the functional departments of the province continue to organize inspection teams, urge and support to overcome the consequences of floods. The People's Committees of communes and wards with rivers at warning levels continue to carry out patrol and guard regimes, proactively detect and handle incidents of dykes and irrigation works according to regulations. In response to proposals from localities, the Irrigation Department of Bac Ninh province has provided disaster prevention materials to units to serve the work of preventing and combating natural disasters.
