Quang Ninh The sand road that only appears about 8 times a month in Thanh Lan island, Co To district, is a new tourist attraction attracting visitors to experience.

The sandy road is located about 200 meters from Thanh Lan Island, 4 kilometers from Co To Island by sea. According to Tran Van Nam, a tour guide on Thanh Lan Island, this road only appears 4 to 8 times a month, depending on the tide. "Not everyone who goes to Thanh Lan can come here, so we call it the road of fate," Nam said.

In the middle of the clear blue sea, the sandy beach emerges in the shape of a giant humpback whale, about 300 meters long and 20 meters wide. The sand here is golden, smooth and gradually slopes down on both sides.

Dang Trang, 39 years old in Hanoi , and her family had a 3-day trip to Co To island district in early July. After experiencing the big Co To island, they booked a tour to explore Thanh Lan island. "To get to the sand road, we were told to leave at 7:30 am, by canoe for about 10 minutes," Trang said, commenting that the 30 minutes of playing on the sand road was "the best experience of the trip".

After visiting the sandy road, Ms. Trang continued to the bird island to watch seagulls, swim to see corals and fish for lunch on the island. These are activities in the Thanh Lan Island discovery tour package with a cost of 1.2 million VND per person. "If visitors only want to explore the road and then go to De Island to catch snails, the price is 400,000 VND/person," said tour guide Tran Van Nam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hai Linh, Head of the Department of Culture, Information and Tourism of Co To island district, new tourism products, beautiful, unique and convenient spots such as the sand road contribute to enhancing the experience and prolonging the stay of tourists to the island district.

In June 2023, Co To island district welcomed 105,000 visitors, the number of stays reached over 200,000, equal to the same period in 2019 but the length of stay was longer when each visitor to the island stayed for an average of over 2 nights. In July, the island is expected to welcome 70,000 visitors.
