VHO - The People's Committee of Quang Nam province has just approved the project to preserve, restore, rehabilitate and promote the value of the national relic of Bang An Cham tower (Dien An ward, Dien Ban town) with a total investment of nearly 8.39 billion VND from the provincial budget to restore and stabilize the structure of the relic in the long term, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of the relic.

The project focuses on preserving the original elements of the monument, protecting the structures and architectural components during the restoration process. The scale of construction investment includes: Restoration and reinforcement of the monument such as clearing the ground, collecting artifacts around the foot of the tower.

Surveying some locations in the relic protection area to serve the restoration process. Reinforcing the tower base from the ground up 2m high with restored bricks.

Demolish the brick masonry block with cement mortar in the main lobby area, build steps, chisel and clean the brick surface before renovation, restore with restored bricks. Handle and reinforce cracks on the tower body.

Clean, preserve and prevent moss, mold and lichen on the original wall surface, treat and kill invasive plants on architectural components. Clean the surface, preserve and reposition existing stone artifacts in front of the tower lobby, prevent termites and other related items.

Auxiliary items serving the relic restoration activities such as: Installing scaffolding for construction; covering the construction with corrugated iron, and protecting against dust with tarpaulin. Items for electricity, water supply, brick processing tank and other auxiliary items serving the restoration.

In recent times, Quang Nam province has also paid attention to the restoration and preservation of Cham tower relics in the province to prevent deterioration, but due to many reasons, including financial constraints, the towers have not been invested in to reinforce against deterioration, and continue to be damaged, with more and more crumbling, blistering, and cracked walls appearing...

Previously, Van Hoa Newspaper has repeatedly reported the deterioration of the Bang An Cham tower relic, and it is necessary to quickly find solutions and appropriate responses to preserve and promote the value of this relic, which has been ranked as a national relic, in order to restore and stabilize the structures of the relic in the long term.

Bang An Cham Tower is one of the remaining ancient Cham towers in Quang Nam province, built around the 12th century and considered a large brick sculpture in the history of sculpture, with high value in the history and religious beliefs of the Cham people.

This relic was ranked as a national relic in January 1989, with a total area of ​​4,040m2 .

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, said that after completion, the project will prevent the risk of collapse and loss, increase the sustainability and long-term stability of the relic structure with high cultural and artistic value, contributing to the preservation of the cultural address of great value and uniqueness of the province and the region in the chain of formation and development of Cham culture in the heart of Vietnamese culture.

At the same time, it also creates strong development potential for the local tourism industry to promote socio -economic development of the province and the Central region.
