These days, at Dong Tac fishing port, many tuna fishing boats return to port after long days at sea.

After more than 20 days at sea, the fishing boat of Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (51 years old, in Phu Yen ward) brought back 37 tuna.

With a selling price of 95,000 VND/kg, Mr. Hung said that this trip he made a profit of more than 10 million after deducting expenses and sharing with his fellow sailors.

"The mid-2025 voyage was quite favorable with calm seas and light winds. The catch yield was relatively stable," said Mr. Hung.

Mr. Nguyen The Ngoc (40 years old, a fisherman in Tuy Hoa ward) said that due to the decrease in fish prices, the boat had to fish for a long time to make a profit. After entering the port to sell the fish, the boat owner gave him nearly 8 million VND.

"I will give this money to my wife to buy books for our children to prepare for the new school year. I will stay home for a few days and then get back on the ship for the next trip," said Mr. Ngoc.

Fishermen hope tuna prices will rebound and production will increase to stabilize their lives.

According to traders at Dong Tac fishing port, the price of tuna sold at 100,000 VND/kg during Tet 2025. However, the current price has dropped to 95,000 VND/kg, which, although slightly reduced, still causes difficulties for fishermen because the cost of each trip is currently quite high.

Mr. Dao Quang Minh - Head of the Dak Lak Department of Fisheries and Sea Islands - said that tuna prices have decreased due to the impact of export markets, consumption and increased production and processing costs.

Fish prices have decreased due to the impact of export markets, consumption and increased production costs.

According to the Dak Lak Province Fishing Port Management Board, since the beginning of the year, about 2,660 fishing boats have docked at the port. The output of exploited aquatic products reached about 36,400 tons, equal to 104.8% compared to the same period last year, of which 2,400 tons were ocean tuna.

Fishermen strictly follow regulations on fishing at sea, do not encroach on foreign waters, and ensure that fishing journeys are recorded.
