The family of the famous classical opera artist Minh To held an intimate meeting to commemorate the late People's Artist Thanh Tong - a talented artist, master of classical opera. This year marks the 9th anniversary of his passing, but his love for the profession and the theatrical legacy he left behind still shines, cherished and preserved by generations of children, students and colleagues.

The most meaningful thing was on the 9th anniversary of his death, during which the Dai Viet New Reformed Theatre and the family of People's Artist Que Tran coordinated to organize the performance of the play "Buc Ngon Do Dai Viet" at Tran Huu Trang Theatre, attracting a large audience.

The memorial service took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere - where three generations of artists of the Minh To family gathered. People's Artist Que Tran's family and her siblings carefully prepared the altar, flowers and fruits, and pictures recording the artistic journey of their beloved father.

The eldest son of the late People's Artist Thanh Tong - Nhat Tan - emotionally shared: "It has been 9 years since my father passed away, but his image still lives on. My father always taught me that doing art is not to be honored, but to serve the audience. Every time the family gathers, we remember our father and remind ourselves to keep the flame of the profession that he passed on. That is the wish of an artist who devoted his life to the stage."

Nhat Tan’s emotion left many attendees speechless. Memories of the talented artist emerged through each photo, each story and the joy of the reunion day.

Meritorious Artist Truong Son, the brother-in-law and successor of People's Artist Thanh Tong, emotionally said: "Brother 5 Thanh Tong is one of the people who have devoted the most to preserving and renewing the traditional Cai Luong Tuong stage. He is a person who both preserves the roots and dares to seek new directions. We have been with him through many years of staging and performing, and I always admire his will - a tireless worker."

Artist Cong Minh shared in a choked voice: "Brother 5 Thanh Tong is strict but kind. He taught me how to act, how to live, how to keep a pure mind when standing on stage. Every time I stand in front of the traditional theater backdrop, I still hear the voice echoing in my head: 'Be true to your character, because that is how you dedicate yourself to your profession'."

Artist Thanh Loan recalls: "Mr. Thanh Tong is a very dedicated person. Even though he was seriously ill, he still corrected every movement and every line of singing for the young actors. I will always remember the image of him sitting in the wings, his eyes filled with tears when he saw the young people singing in the right rhythm and with the true spirit of the classical music that he loved all his life."

Meritorious Artist Tu Suong also recalled many valuable lessons: "I was greatly influenced by Thanh Tong. He always encouraged us to experiment and be creative but not to stray from our traditional roots. Every time I go on stage to perform traditional opera, I silently thank him for his strictness - the one who planted in my heart a sincere love for traditional art."

People's Artist Thanh Tong (1948–2016) – son of "Mr. Thang Minh To, founder of the Minh To classical opera troupe – is one of the great figures of the classical opera stage. He was not only an excellent performer, but also a director, composer, and an inspirational teacher for many generations.

Classic works such as The Great Viet Map, The Horse Saddle Poem, The Flame of Thang Long, The Trang Nguyen's Cai... all bear his creative mark - combining traditional quintessence with modern staging thinking.

People's Artist Que Tran - the youngest daughter - choked up as she shared: "My father lived a simple life, but in art, he was always extremely strict. He taught us not to see the stage as a place to perform, but as a sacred place to sow faith and say kind things. Every time I step onto the stage, I still feel my father there, watching me through every light."

The meeting ended with stories of a family with 6 generations of singing. The Minh To family – from veteran artists such as: Xuan Yen, Thanh Loan, Cong Minh, Minh Tam, Chi Bap, Thanh Loc, Phuong Hoang…, – all continue to preserve and promote the creative spirit and love for the profession that People's Artist Thanh Tong left behind.
