On October 13, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment (VNU-HCM), said that the 2026 competency assessment exam is expected to have an adjustment in time.

Specifically, the first round of the competency assessment exam will also be held on the last Sunday of March, but the second round is expected to be held one week earlier than in 2025 (in 2025, it will be held on June 1). This adjustment is to match the general schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to Dr. Chinh, the test time and structure will not change compared to 2025, and candidates will still take the test on paper - this creates convenience, comfort, and ease of access for candidates in all regions.
The capacity assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University is the largest among the capacity and thinking assessment exams organized by universities. In 2025, a total of 218,569 candidates took the exam in both rounds, of which 67,623 candidates who took the exam in round 1 registered to retake the exam in round 2 to improve their scores.
By 2025, 101 universities and 10 colleges will use the results of the competency assessment exam for admission.
