On the morning of October 17, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) organized a training conference on state management of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation (S&T, I&D) for leaders of Departments of Science and Technology. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung directly delivered key topics. This is also the last conference in the series of training courses for leaders of Departments of Science and Technology organized by the Ministry since October 14.

The first thing Minister Nguyen Manh Hung shared was the meaning of the new logo of the Ministry of Science and Technology . The logo has a golden star in the center, surrounded by atomic circles and moving numbers 101010, representing the foundation of science and technology in the digital age.

The three main colors blue, yellow, and white are associated with the philosophy of Heaven - Earth - Humanity: Yellow belongs to the Earth element, symbolizing the earth, sustainability, devotion, loyalty, and loyalty. Blue belongs to the Water element, symbolizing intelligence, creativity, and the desire to reach out to the world. White belongs to the Metal element, symbolizing people, standards, transparency, and honesty.

The new logo is not only an identity mark but also reflects the development focus of the Ministry in the current period, which is innovation and digital transformation. The Minister emphasized that innovation in Vietnam has been clearly affirmed in the Law on Science, Technology and Digital Transformation, and digital transformation, although it has only been launched for 5 years, has become a nationwide movement. Vietnam is one of the few countries in the world with a National Digital Transformation Program, demonstrating the determination to turn the nation into a "dragon" through science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

According to the Minister, the three core tasks of the Department Director are: i) Strategically advising provincial leaders on development policies and planning; ii) Organizing implementation to turn policies into concrete results, with products and impacts; iii) Proactively coordinating with central agencies, the business community and domestic and foreign organizations to create a combined strength.

To successfully complete the mission, the head of the Department needs to have strategic thinking and a systemic vision, be knowledgeable about technology without getting bogged down in technical details, have flexible leadership and management capacity, foster a spirit of innovation, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, and at the same time maintain ethics and public service culture with the values ​​of integrity, modesty and listening.

The Minister set targets for the next 5 years with the requirement that the contribution of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation reach over 50% of the province's GRDP growth; the rate of technology innovation enterprises is over 25%, 5 to 10 key science and technology and digital transformation enterprises are formed; 100% of science and technology tasks have outputs linked to application or commercialization.

To achieve the goals, the Minister outlined six key groups of solutions, including: i) Perfecting and innovating financial mechanisms; ii) Developing the innovation ecosystem; iii) Promoting science and technology enterprises and technology startups; iv) Improving science and technology capacity and infrastructure; v) Comprehensive digital transformation; vi) Strengthening linkages and cooperation in science and technology communication.
