Many effective measures to prevent cold during Tet

At Bach Mai Hospital, the work of keeping patients warm during cold days has been implemented by the unit with many effective measures.
In particular, the outdoor heating system, warm blankets and boiling water have been reviewed, strengthened and supplemented by the Administration Department, Infection Control Department... to support cold protection for patients and their families.

Vu Hoai Nam, Head of the Administration Department of Bach Mai Hospital, shared that the service for patients and their families has been prepared and has a response plan in place with full equipment and supplies.

The department has also assigned staff to be on duty at all times and in all places. “On the evening of January 26, the 27th of Tet, the temperature dropped sharply, the heating system along the A9 Emergency Center and the Stroke Center was turned on, helping the patients’ relatives sitting outside the lobby to be warmer. The system will be maintained throughout the Tet holidays, until the outside temperature rises,” said Mr. Nam.

Dr. Truong Anh Thu - Head of the Infection Control Department said that ensuring patients always have enough warm blankets, clean clothes and hot water is the department's routine work.

However, in the face of the cold weather of the Lunar New Year 2025, all activities have been intensified. The department is ready to respond promptly and fully to any needs of departments, patients, and their families. The department staff is almost 100% on duty, throughout the Tet holiday. The department always has staff on duty 24/7 to provide warming items, as well as tools and fabric.

At A9 Emergency Center, Bach Mai Hospital, the working atmosphere is still very busy and urgent, ensuring maximum reception, examination and treatment for patients.

Master Le Quang Tri - Head Nurse of A9 Emergency Center said that the Center is always ready with air conditioners, heaters, warm blankets, and thermal blankets for patients. The Center also regularly checks and strictly controls the temperature of the hospital room and the body temperature of the patients.

The hospital has a plan to adjust temperature and humidity in a timely manner according to standards and regulations, suitable for each treatment area as well as the pathology of each patient; ensure doors are always airtight; doctors and staff are ready to handle and respond to unexpected situations.

"On the evening of January 26, the 27th of Tet, the weather turned cold, freezing to the bone. Fortunately, thanks to the timely heating system arranged by Bach Mai Hospital, we and the patients' relatives who were on duty outside the lobby felt warmer, less tired, and had to cope with the harsh weather of the Northern winter" - Ms. Huynh Thi Nhu ( Hanoi ) shared.

In addition to strengthening cold prevention for patients and their families during the cold Tet holidays, Bach Mai Hospital and the Social Work Department also set up a zero-dong booth and Tet meal packages to distribute free necessities and food to people staying at the hospital. This activity was implemented from the 28th to the 5th day of Tet, i.e. January 27th to February 2nd.

Along with that, the hospital has organized a "Love Tet Market" with zero-dong stalls, giving gifts and serving free meals to patients and their relatives in especially difficult circumstances, and seriously ill patients who have to stay for treatment during Tet.

Similarly, at Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital, in addition to ensuring on-duty staff in treatment and emergency departments, ensuring cold prevention, the unit also supported patients staying at the unit during the Lunar New Year with meals that ensure nutrition and food safety.

The hospital cafeteria is open throughout the Lunar New Year holiday, serving all inpatients and their families celebrating Tet at the unit. In particular, during the 3 days from January 28-30, 2025 (ie from the 29th of Tet to the 2nd day of Tet At Ty 2025), patients in the inpatient treatment area will be provided with free meals.

At Xanh Pon General Hospital, in addition to being on duty, ready to provide emergency care to patients and support emergency care outside the hospital when required, the unit also ensures cold protection during medical examination and treatment, the waiting area and treatment rooms are airtight, have enough blankets, mattresses, and means to keep warm; and visits patients being treated at the hospital during Tet, especially those in difficult circumstances.

Faced with complicated weather conditions, Duc Giang General Hospital has taken many measures to strengthen cold prevention to ensure the health of patients during the cold Tet holiday.

In particular, Dr. Doan Van Phuc - Head of the Department of Neurology, Deputy Director of Duc Giang General Hospital (Hanoi) noted that in winter, especially during Tet, the elderly should pay attention and limit temperature changes when bathing. When exercising, they should wear warmer clothes than usual, limit morning exercise and can exercise in the afternoon.

The Ministry of Health requires medical facilities to strengthen emergency and medical examination and treatment during the Lunar New Year 2025. In particular, units must ensure adequate reserves of medicine, blood, infusion fluids and necessary means and equipment for emergency and medical examination and treatment, especially emergency treatment for traffic accidents and food poisoning.
