Ministry of Health: Do not allow drug shortages or sudden price increases due to the effects of storms and floods

The Ministry of Health requires control of drug supply, reserves and prevention of sudden price increases after storms and floods, to ensure effective public health.

On October 1, the Ministry of Health informed that the Drug Administration of Vietnam had sent a document on focusing on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 10 and responding to floods after the storm to the Departments of Health of the following provinces and cities: Hue, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Son La, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien and the provinces affected by storm No. 10; This document was also sent by the Drug Administration of Vietnam to drug manufacturing and importing establishments.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the Department of Health of provinces and cities to proactively review and direct drug production, trading and import establishments in the area to develop plans to reserve and supply enough drugs to serve medical examination and treatment, and disease prevention after storms and floods; ensuring that there are no drug shortages or sudden price increases.

The Departments of Health direct medical examination and treatment facilities in the area to review, develop and update the list of essential medicines to serve the people; Urgently implement plans to purchase and supplement reserves to ensure sufficient medicine facilities to serve the people, including in medical situations arising from natural disasters, epidemics, etc.

For drug manufacturing and importing establishments, it is necessary to proactively ensure the supply of quality drugs at reasonable prices, ready to supply the needs of disease prevention and control and overcoming the consequences of storms and floods. Prioritize the arrangement of goods for urgent service in areas heavily affected by storms and post-storm circulation.

The Drug Administration Department stated that during the implementation process, if any difficulties or problems arise, the units are requested to report to the Drug Administration Department (Pharmaceutical Business Management Department) for guidance and resolution./.
