(Chinhphu.vn) - Grab's Sustainable Green Program aims to plant 100,000 trees in Da Nang and Khanh Hoa, install more than 210,000 improved stoves and replace 6 million incandescent light bulbs with energy-saving LED lights for households in remote areas by 2025.

In 2025, the Green Sustainability Program will plant 100,000 trees in Da Nang and Khanh Hoa.

Grab Vietnam officially launched the Sustainable Green Program with the aim of promoting environmental protection projects through cooperation with local authorities. Together with Grab users, the Sustainable Green Program will focus on implementing projects to plant forests, save energy and reduce emissions to the environment.

This is an effort to continue Grab's commitment to protecting the environment and improving the quality of community life, towards the sustainable development of cities in Vietnam.

Planting 100,000 trees in Da Nang and Khanh Hoa

In the immediate future, in 2025, the Green Sustainability Program will plant 100,000 trees in Da Nang and Khanh Hoa, install more than 210,000 improved stoves and replace 6 million incandescent light bulbs with energy-saving LED lights for households in remote areas.

Mr. Ma Tuan Trong, Managing Director of Grab Vietnam, shared: Grab continues to promote and diversify its environmental protection activities - in addition to afforestation, this year we also implement initiatives to reduce emissions and save energy. This is a testament to Grab's long-term efforts, as well as its commitment to working with agencies and the community to create a sustainable green future. With the power of technology and a connection platform, we believe that the Green Sustainability Program will continue to create far-reaching positive impacts on the environment and local people.

The Green Sustainability Program was officially launched with the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement to implement the Grab For Good Forest afforestation project between Grab Vietnam and units including the Da Nang City Protective Forest Management Board and the Fund for Supporting and Developing Sustainable Communities (Song Fund).

Immediately after launching the program, the parties will plant 20,000 trees in the protective forest of Phu Ninh reservoir, contributing to greening the forest and expanding the protective forest area.

Greening of Phu Ninh Lake protective forest

Mr. Vo Hung Nhan, Director of the Da Nang City Forest Protection Management Board, shared: Natural disasters are a profound reminder of the consequences of unsustainable resource exploitation, and at the same time call for stronger actions to protect the living environment. With 20,000 trees contributed by Grab Vietnam and Grab users through the Living Fund, about 18 hectares of Phu Ninh Lake protective forest will be covered with green - this is an extremely meaningful start, contributing to the Government 's program of planting one billion new trees and enhancing resilience to natural disasters and climate change.

In 2024, with the support of Grab users, the Grab For Good Forest project planted more than 171,000 trees and sowed 150,000 seed bombs in Nui Chua National Park, Thuan Nam coastal protection forest and Tan Giang upstream protection forest.

According to the cooperation agreement, immediately after launching the program, the parties will plant 20,000 trees in the Phu Ninh reservoir protection forest, contributing to greening the forest, expanding the protective forest area, protecting groundwater resources and preventing soil erosion in the locality.

In addition to tree planting activities, the parties also cooperate in research and evaluation of the effectiveness of forest planting models, biodiversity conservation, as well as communication to raise public awareness and mobilize more social resources for forest conservation.

In addition to Da Nang, the Green Sustainability Program also planted 80,000 trees in the Tan Giang - Thuan Nam protective forest (in Khanh Hoa province). This is also an important area in protecting the ecosystem and enhancing resilience to climate change.

In addition to joining hands to green forests, the Green Sustainability Program is cooperating with INTRACO to implement initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save energy.

Two key activities include the free installation of more than 210,000 improved stoves to replace conventional wood stoves, helping people in several provinces and cities save fuel, and the free replacement of 6 million energy-saving LED lights for households currently using incandescent bulbs across the country.

These initiatives not only help people save on living expenses, improve air quality and health, contribute to reducing carbon emissions, and partly reduce the load on the national electricity system. In particular, the use of improved stoves also has social significance by reducing the labor burden of collecting firewood for women and children in rural areas.

In addition to projects in Vietnam, donations from Grab users are also being used to support conservation efforts at the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary in Cambodia. The project is protecting and restoring a 290,000-hectare natural ecosystem that is home to more than 80 endangered species and supports the livelihoods of many indigenous communities.
