Domestic pepper prices remain stable
Pepper prices today, October 17, 2025, in some key growing areas remained unchanged compared to yesterday, thereby bringing the domestic pepper price level to 144,500 - 147,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, pepper prices today in Dak Lak province remained unchanged, currently at 147,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Gia Lai province remains unchanged at 144,500 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Lam Dong province remained unchanged at 147,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, pepper prices in Ho Chi Minh City today remain unchanged, currently at 146,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Dong Nai province increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg, currently at 146,000 VND/kg.

Currently, in addition to supply and demand factors, pepper prices are being negatively affected by the financial market. The US dollar continues to increase, while speculative capital flows strongly into gold as prices continuously set new records, making agricultural products, including pepper, less attractive.
In Vietnam, the new coffee harvest has begun, causing cash flow to shift to this commodity due to high coffee prices at the beginning of the season. Many dealers have had to sell off their pepper inventories to turn around capital for coffee trading, causing pepper trading volume to decrease in the short term.
In the export market, major markets for Vietnamese pepper remain stable, but the main expectations from China have not met expectations. However, in the long term, pepper prices are still forecast to increase due to the decline in global supply and the recovery of world demand, helping Vietnam to continue to maintain its position as the world's largest pepper exporter.
According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC), domestic pepper prices are likely to fluctuate between VND145,000 and VND155,000 per kilogram. If supply continues to tighten, prices may exceed VND155,000 per kilogram; conversely, if farmers sell heavily at the start of the new crop, prices may drop slightly but will be difficult to fall deeply.
World pepper prices and influencing factors
In the world market, based on quotes from exporting enterprises and export prices in countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the latest pepper prices as of October 17, 2025 as follows:
Indonesia's Lampung black pepper prices decreased slightly by 0.01% to USD 7,233/ton. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices decreased slightly by 0.02% to USD 10,091/ton.
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged at USD 6,100/mt.
Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged at $9,500 per tonne. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged at $12,500 per tonne.
Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged, of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l remains unchanged at 6,400 USD/ton; the price of 550 gr/l remains unchanged at 6,600 USD/ton.
Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged at USD 9,050/ton.
After 9 months of 2025, Vietnam's pepper industry will achieve an export turnover of nearly 1.3 billion USD, becoming one of the country's billion-dollar agricultural products. However, the industry is facing difficulties in crop varieties when diseases, climate change and research on varieties have not kept up with demand, making it challenging to maintain productivity and quality.
In the world market, pepper prices are forecast to remain high due to limited supply and recovering demand. This is a great opportunity for Vietnam, but the lack of quality seeds is still a barrier preventing the industry from developing sustainably.
According to the Vietnam Customs Department, in September 2025, pepper exports reached 20,405 tons, worth 135.99 million USD, down slightly from the previous month but up more than 20% over the same period in 2024. In total, in 9 months, the export volume reached 186,503 tons, down 7.1%, but thanks to the strong price increase, the value still increased by nearly 28% over the previous year.
The average export price in September 2025 reached 6,665 USD/ton, up from August and the same period last year. In the first 9 months, the average price reached 6,787 USD/ton, up 37.6%, showing that strong demand and scarce supply continue to help Vietnam maintain its position as the world's largest pepper exporter.
