
Simultaneously launched environmental cleaning campaign
Every Saturday morning, in Giang Vo ward, residents of residential groups and environmental workers are present on Huynh Thuc Khang and Nguyen Hong streets with gloves, hoes, shovels, and bamboo brooms. Some sweep the streets, others collect them. After just over an hour, the streets, which were still full of garbage and fallen leaves, have become cleaner and more airy. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Thanh Cong residential area said: "The environmental sanitation movement on weekends has become a habit. On this occasion, everyone is even more excited, because cleaning up is not only to beautify the streets, but also to celebrate Independence Day in a solemn and meaningful atmosphere."

In Ba Dinh ward, the weekly "Green Sunday" movement attracts more than 300 residents along with union members and members of political and social organizations to participate in cleaning Truc Bach lake and Nguyen Truong To street. Floating garbage and water hyacinths are scooped up, and waste collection sites are cleaned up, creating a bright and green appearance for the lake space. Mr. Nguyen Tien Trung excitedly said: "Seeing the lake cleaner, everyone is happy. For many years, I have been used to picking up trash with the neighborhood group on holidays and Tet. We do a small part, but contribute to the overall appearance of the city."
Vice Chairwoman of Ba Dinh Ward People's Committee Nguyen Thi Doan Trang said that, implementing the direction of Hanoi City People's Committee on strengthening environmental sanitation work, activities to serve people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the work of maintaining environmental sanitation has been focused on by the Ward People's Committee. The Ward has arranged forces to coordinate with units to ensure environmental sanitation in the entire area around Ba Dinh Square and the key duty areas right after the preliminary rehearsal, general rehearsal, and official celebration. The mobilized forces participate in monitoring and reminding people to dispose of garbage in the right place...
In addition, the Women's Union of Ba Dinh Ward launched the project "Ba Dinh Digitalization - 24-hour Garbage-Free Street". Accordingly, 100% of the women's union branches chose to register to build at least 7 models of "Garbage-Free Roads and Streets" with a minimum length of 300m on main streets and radial streets in the ward, successfully implementing the project "Ba Dinh Digitalization - 24-hour Garbage-Free Street" on Phan Dinh Phung Street, ensuring bright - green - clean - beautiful, environmentally friendly.

At the same time, the ward organized a propaganda campaign to sign a commitment to 100% of cadres, members and 85% or more of women in the ward to classify waste at source, and dump waste on time and in the right place. Business households and street-front houses are responsible for voluntarily collecting and treating waste, implementing the 3 clean movement (clean house, clean alley, clean street) to protect the environment.
In Vinh Tuy ward, after nearly 2 months of the two-level local government coming into operation, the ward has organized 4-5 general environmental cleaning campaigns in the area. The ward mobilized more than 200 cadres, civil servants and people to participate. This is one of the practical activities of the ward to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2.

In Hoan Kiem ward, workers of Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited coordinated with ward officials, unions, students to clean up the Hoan Kiem Lake area and the walking street. After only a few hours, all the garbage, dry leaves, and weeds around the lake were collected. The space around the "heart of the capital" became splendid, full of flags and flowers, ready to welcome tens of thousands of domestic and foreign tourists on the occasion of September 2.
Not only in the inner city, but also in the suburbs of Hanoi, the environmental sanitation movement is taking place vigorously. In Quoc Oai commune, from early morning, loudspeakers continuously blared calling on people to participate in cleaning. On the inter-commune roads, hundreds of people along with women's union members, veterans, youth union members and environmental workers simultaneously took action. Some cleared bushes, others dredged drainage ditches, and others collected garbage.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quoc Oai Commune, said: "We consider environmental sanitation activities on this occasion an important political task, both creating a bright - green - clean - beautiful rural landscape and spreading the spirit of self-awareness and community responsibility." In addition to organizing a general environmental sanitation campaign, Quoc Oai Commune also maintains the contest "Keeping villages and residential groups bright, green, clean, beautiful, and safe" in 2025. Thanks to that, on weekends, in villages, hamlets, and residential areas in the area, people join forces to clean the environment with the expectation that their village or hamlet will be the cleanest and most beautiful...
In the communes of Soc Son, Kim Anh, Trung Gia, the military units stationed in the area and the local people launched a general cleaning campaign at Soc temple, Dong Quan lake, Giong temple... Spontaneous garbage dumps were cleared, and the road to the relic was swept clean. Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, a resident of Soc Son commune, said: "For the past few years, every National Day, we have gathered together to do a general cleaning. Visitors coming to the temple will see a clean, beautiful, and solemn space."
Join hands for a green, clean and civilized capital

Present at many environmental sanitation launch sites, Hanoi Moi Newspaper reporters recorded the consensus and positive response of the majority of people. Everywhere there was an excited atmosphere, people considered cleaning as part of the preparation for Independence Day.
Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quoc Oai Commune, Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan, commented: “Environmental sanitation activities not only contribute to creating a neat appearance, but are also an opportunity for people of all walks of life to promote the spirit of solidarity and community responsibility. This is a beautiful feature that needs to be maintained regularly, not only during holidays and Tet...”.

Deputy General Director of Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited Nguyen Thanh Son said that the unit has increased human resources and vehicles at central locations, festival areas, and walking streets, and closely coordinated with the People's Committees of wards to collect and transport waste in a timely manner.
In many localities, the cleaning movement is also associated with urban beautification and the construction of new, improved rural areas. Flower roads, mural walls, and community flower gardens are being renovated and trees are being added. The movements of “Civilized Streets”, “Blooming Roads”, and “Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful Residential Areas” are being maintained and expanded.

The atmosphere of cleaning up on weekends to prepare for Independence Day has become a beautiful tradition in the capital. From the inner city to the suburbs; from officials, civil servants to workers..., everyone joins hands with specific, practical work, creating a fresh space for the city, ready for the great national holiday.
On August 29, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Trong Dong signed and issued Plan No. 241/KH-UBND on implementing a communication campaign to ensure environmental sanitation and urban order, and compete to achieve light - green - clean - beautiful in the city. The campaign focuses on propagating around three main groups of messages: Maintaining environmental sanitation and urban order is the responsibility of the whole society; classifying waste at source - small actions, big benefits; joining hands to build the image of a civilized and friendly capital Hanoi.
In September 2025, Hanoi entered the peak propaganda phase, associated with activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2. Communication content was promoted with many visual and vivid forms such as video clips, podcasts, exchanges, discussions, composition competitions, etc., creating a widespread effect.
