Speaking at the opening ceremony of the race, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said that, joining the exciting atmosphere of the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025); 26 years since Hanoi was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a City for Peace , the City People's Committee organized the Final Round of the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025.

Responding to the call for "All people to exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the movement "Healthy to build a career and protect the country", the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run was organized since 1974 and is held annually, becoming a widespread mass sports movement, attracting a large number of people from all walks of life in the capital, athletes from many provinces and cities across the country and athletes from foreign organizations and embassies in Hanoi. The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run continues to affirm itself as one of the traditional tournaments of the Vietnamese athletics community after 49 times of organization.
"In addition to the professional competitions, the race also carries a very meaningful message for peace. We will together sign a message of peace to send to friends around the world to contribute to the voice of solidarity, humanity and determination towards a better future globally" - Ms. Vu Thu Ha emphasized.
At the opening of the Final Race, more than 1,000 athletes who are leaders of central agencies and Hanoi city, departments, branches, sectors, organizations; junior high schools, high schools, universities, colleges, vocational high schools; agencies, units, and enterprises under the Hanoi City Labor Federation; police and military units of the armed forces; leaders of the People's Committee and Directors and Deputy Directors of the Center for Culture - Information and Sports of 126 communes and wards in the capital participated in the run.
BTC awarded prizes in some competition categories
The final round of the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Run includes 3 events: Amateur Run; Advanced Run for athletes from provincial and city athletics teams; and Competition for sponsors of the Run.
In particular, the Mass Running content will include: 1,750m run for men and women in middle and high schools of communes and wards (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 1,750m run for women from universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m run for men from universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m run for women in production and armed forces (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 5,250m run for men in production and armed forces (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).
The Advanced Running event for athletes of provincial and municipal athletics teams will include: Women's 5,250m Open Run (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); Men's 8,750m Open Run (5 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).
Competition content for sponsoring units of the Tournament: Individual competition and 1,750m run (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake) for women and 1,750m run (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake) for men.
Regarding the award structure, the Organizing Committee will award individual prizes to male and female athletes ranked from 1 to 5; and team prizes to teams ranked from 1 to 3 in each block. First, Second, and Third prizes will be awarded to 3 blocks: Commune block; University, college, vocational high school, vocational training block and extended block. The total prize value is nearly 250,000,000 VND.
