Hanoi: Focus on promoting digital transformation in Women's Union activities

Women's Unions at all levels in Hanoi have paid attention to promoting digital transformation, applying science, technology, innovation in Union activities and connecting to attract women; implementing digitalization of data of Union organizations at all levels; researching and applying advanced management tools, models, systems and deploying artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the activities of Unions at all levels.

On the morning of August 12, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Women's Union (VWU) in collaboration with the Center for Science and Technology Application and Startups - Vietnam Association of Intellectual Women organized a seminar on Consulting on women's participation in State management of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

The seminar was organized to contribute to the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation and the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation; at the same time, further promoting the role of women in State management of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation in the context of comprehensive innovation and breakthroughs in science and technology development of Hanoi city.

Information on the activities and solutions of the Hanoi Women's Union in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW shows that, in recent times, the Union has carried out propaganda to all cadres, members and women in the city, focusing on propagating, praising, and rewarding typical examples and good models in breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation; praising female scientists, female inventors, enterprises, cooperatives, cooperatives managed by women, outstanding women with achievements in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, and ideas in scientific research; organizing exchanges and sharing of experiences between units...

At the same time, the Union at all levels has paid attention to promoting digital transformation, applying science, technology, innovation in Union activities and connecting to attract women; implementing data digitization of Union organizations at all levels; researching and applying advanced management tools, models, systems and deploying artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the activities of the Union at all levels; proposing to build a team management platform, connecting supply and demand, supporting women in starting businesses, innovation...

Along with that, the Women's Union has focused on improving the capacity of cadres, members and women to meet the requirements of science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation through organizing digital skills training courses for members and women to improve their capacity and skills in applying information technology; skills in using computers, internet, social networks, email, artificial intelligence; skills in accessing information, exploiting digital services safely in cyberspace. Proactively organize or coordinate to organize "Digital Literacy" classes for members and women; integrate digital skills instruction in branch and group meetings.

Notably, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Women's Union launched the "Digital Literacy" movement at all levels of the Union and organized many practical activities such as: Capital Women's Day applying technology and innovation in 2025 to introduce information technology application products and digital transformation; organized a talk show "Application of technology, innovation - Opportunities and challenges for women in the new era"...

At the seminar, representatives of the units discussed the current status of Hanoi women's participation in State management of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. Thereby, identifying the main barriers for women to access digital technology - especially elderly women and the disadvantaged. At the same time, delegates also proposed a number of solutions and policies to support and encourage women in leadership and State management to apply science and technology and innovate in their activities.

Based on the opinions of the delegates, the Center for Science and Technology Application and Entrepreneurship under the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals and the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Women's Union synthesized the opinions as a basis for proposing policies in the coming time.
