Gilimex Industrial Park's centralized wastewater treatment plant will ensure all wastewater meets standards. |
Affirming potential, shaping direction
At this point, the Gilimex Industrial Park Project (Phu Bai Ward) is entering the completion stage, ready to welcome investors. With a scale of more than 460 hectares, Gilimex Industrial Park is expected to become a symbol of green, clean and environmentally friendly industrial development. The highlight of the project is the Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plant with a total investment of about 130 billion VND, which has been completed and ready for operation. This project ensures that all wastewater from secondary investors meets standards before being discharged into the environment. This is a clear demonstration of Gilimex's commitment to long-term sustainable development in the industrial park system across the country.
Mr. Phan Van Dinh, Deputy General Director of Gilimex Hue, said that Gilimex determined from the beginning to build a model project, taking green development as a guiding principle in its operations. Green areas account for 22% of the area, equivalent to 65 hectares, double the current minimum regulation.
Hue is located on the East-West Economic Corridor, has advantages in trading with Laos, Thailand, Myanmar; owns Phu Bai International Airport, Chan May deep-water port and railway and road systems. Traffic, logistics and communication infrastructure are increasingly improved, creating conditions for the formation of a regional-scale industrial logistics service chain. Currently, the whole city has 6 industrial parks and 2 economic zones: Chan May - Lang Co and A Dot Border Gate. Many industrial and economic zones have been invested in synchronous technical infrastructure, have standard wastewater treatment stations, and green areas account for 20% or more. Industrial parks such as Phong Dien, Phu Bai, Tu Ha, and La Son are being upgraded according to the "ecological industrial park" model. At the same time, human resources are also gradually being ensured with more than 700,000 people of working age, nearly half of whom have been trained from the university, college, and vocational school system in the area.
Sustainable development
In many exchanges, Hue city leaders affirmed: "Hue will not trade the environment for short-term growth". That direction may result in a modest initial growth index, but in return it is the foundation for a safe, transparent and long-term investment environment, where decent investors with a sustainable vision find suitable destinations. However, at present, green industry development still faces many challenges. Typically, transport and energy infrastructure is not synchronized; high-tech human resources are lacking; green conversion costs are high, especially for small and medium enterprises.
To overcome difficulties, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Quy Phuong said that the city has implemented a series of synchronous solutions such as perfecting mechanisms and preferential policies on taxes and land; supporting businesses in technological innovation and circulating wastewater treatment; encouraging the use of renewable energy; shortening administrative procedures through the "electronic one-stop shop" system; establishing 4 special working groups directly managed by the City People's Committee leaders to remove obstacles for key projects.
According to Mr. Le Van Tue, Head of the City Economic and Industrial Zones Management Board, to ensure a green direction, the city has issued a set of criteria for screening investors, prioritizing projects with advanced technology, low emissions, no coal use and encouraging circular production models. Projects with outdated technology and risk of pollution will not be licensed despite large capital scale.
