Two gold medals at the International Physics Olympiad both belong to Bac Giang students.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024 held in Iran. Accordingly, all 5/5 participating students won medals, including 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals.

The Vietnamese student team participating in the International Physics Olympiad won 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals.

Notably, both gold medals belonged to two students from Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province, including: Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung, 12th grade students.

The three silver medals went to the following students: Nguyen Nhat Minh, grade 12, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi); Ha Duyen Phuc, grade 12 student, Lam Son High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hoa); Nguyen Thanh Duy, grade 12 student, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted (Hai Phong City).

The 54th International Physics Olympiad was held in Iran from July 21 to 29. According to the regulations of the IPhO 2024 Council, the exam consists of 1 theoretical exam and 1 experimental exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours.

This year’s exam was considered interesting and difficult, with both theoretical and practical exam content closely related to real life and the applications of modern science and technology. To win a gold medal, candidates must be in the top 8% of candidates with the highest scores.

The Ministry of Education and Training said: With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad.

This year's results are also better than in 2023 (in 2023, the Vietnamese team won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal). This year, the practical exam scores of Vietnamese students have improved significantly compared to the AphO and IPhO exams in recent years.
