According to the Jury, in Tran Tien's works, Hanoi stands out as a strong "source", a cultural touchpoint, a space of childhood memories, a flow of Northern folk culture, everyday streets and even the countryside of the Doai region...
"Looking at Tran Tien's outstanding songs about Hanoi, including: Improvisation on the Red River, Traveler on the Red River, Hanoi on that day, Hanoi in the 2000s, Improvisation on the street, Poor street, Little sun, My mother, Homeland... , we can see that his creative source has a connection created from the "cultural triangle": Red River - Old Quarter - Xu Doai. These are not only 3 geographical spaces, but also 3 cultural layers, 3 sources of inspiration combined, shaping the appearance of Hanoi in Tran Tien's music ", music researcher Nguyen Quang Long commented.

Sharing at the award ceremony, musician Tran Tien only admitted that he was "a person far from home", not intending to compose about Hanoi but simply writing about what he missed deeply, even haunted. From the years wearing a soldier's uniform in Truong Son to every time he heard someone mention the two words Hanoi, hearing the Hanoi accent, his heart always wanted to cry. "For 45 years away from home, my soul always lingered around the Turtle Tower", he said.
"The appearance of Hanoi people is very unique, unmistakable", the musician of Hanoi streets was moved. He also thanked predecessors such as painter Bui Xuan Phai, director Tran Van Thuy, poet Phan Vu... who passed on to him the love of Hanoi with the most beautiful emotions.
At the award ceremony, Tran Tien returned in his most familiar image, hugging a guitar and whistling loudly with impromptu songs, imbued with the soul of the city, "city dust", recalling a Hanoi not far away, even when it did not mention a single word of Hanoi, like Little Sun ...
The Bui Xuan Phai Award – For the love of Hanoi named Tran Tien because of the sun of memories that he dedicated his whole life to his birthplace.
