The British navy ship HMS Chiddingfold, while docking in Bahrain, crashed and caused a large hole in the hull of the HMS Bangor.
The collision occurred on January 18 at a port in Bahrain. Video posted on social media showed the Hunt-class minehunter HMS Chiddingfold, while backing up to dock, ramming into the hull of the Sandown-class minehunter HMS Bangor, which was anchored, creating a loud bang.

The Royal Navy confirmed the incident on January 19. "We are aware of a collision between two minehunters in Bahrain. There were no casualties," a spokesman for the force told the Mirror , declining to comment further as British authorities are investigating.
UK Defence Journal, citing a source familiar with the matter, said the British military would send teams to investigate, assess the damage and draw up plans for repairs to the HMS Bangor. Images on social media showed a large hole in the hull of the HMS Bangor.
HMS Chiddingfold and HMS Bangor are both taking part in Operation KIPION, which aims to increase the UK's presence in the Gulf and Indian Ocean. The operation is based in Bahrain.

HMS Chiddingfold was commissioned in 1983 and, in addition to minehunting, also had offshore patrol duties. It remains one of Britain's main minehunters, having been upgraded several times and equipped with a modern bow sonar system.
HMS Bangor was commissioned in 2000 with the purpose of hunting mines at depths of up to 200m. The ship is equipped with SeaFox unmanned underwater vehicles, which can assist divers in detecting explosives.
