Although busy building a house, as soon as she received information that the District Red Cross Society was organizing the third voluntary blood donation program in Duy Phu commune, Ms. Truong Thi Tam arranged her family work to participate.

Mrs. Tam said this was her 35th time donating blood. Talking about her first blood donation about 30 years ago, she said she was a bit worried at that time, afraid of the impact on her health.

But after donating, her health was still good and her spirit was cheerful because she was doing something useful for society, so from then on she actively participated. She also voluntarily registered to donate organs to the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center.

For many years, twice a month on the first and fifteenth of the lunar month, Mrs. Tam's volunteer group has cooked and given nearly 170 portions of porridge to the sick and elderly in Duy Tan commune.

She said that 12 years ago, she started saving 20,000 VND every day to cook milk to give to the elderly and sick people in the village. A few years later, seeing the meaning of this work, some organizations and individuals contributed funds to help her expand the charity porridge program.

Regularly receiving a bowl of hot porridge, full of love from Mrs. Tam, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hanh (62 years old, Thu Bon Dong village) emotionally shared: "Everyone in the village here loves Mrs. Tam. She often visits and asks for wheelchairs for my son and many disabled people in the area. Her heart is truly precious."

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Muoi (in the same village) said: "Not only did she give me porridge and gifts, Ms. Tam also took me to the hospital when I suddenly got sick. In many cases, people who were single, had no relatives or children, Ms. Tam went to the hospital to take care of them for many days in a row."
