Danger lurks from spillways in the highlands of Quang Ngai

Every rainy season, many bridges, culverts, and culverts connecting villages and communes in the western mountainous region of Quang Ngai province are deeply flooded, cutting off traffic and threatening people's safety.

According to the Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province, all 40 communes in the western region currently have more than 60 overflow bridges, overflow tunnels and overflow sewers, of which dozens of structures have deteriorated, many places are only temporarily reinforced with stone cages. Every time it rains heavily, these roads are almost paralyzed, people are completely isolated.

In the immediate future, during the flood season, the Department of Construction will coordinate with local authorities and functional agencies to put up warning signs and stretch ropes to prohibit people from passing through to ensure safety, and only allow traffic when the water recedes.

In the long term, the Department will review and assess the urgency of each project to include it in the medium-term investment portfolio, submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration, approval and implementation of construction of solid spillways and underground spillways in order of priority.
