Strengthening legal aid for ethnic minorities

Staff of the State Legal Aid Center No. 1 of Quang Ngai province (under the provincial Department of Justice) disseminate and provide legal aid knowledge consultation to people in ethnic minority areas.

Quang Ngai currently has 43 ethnic groups living, most of them are ethnic minorities living in remote areas. The socio -economic conditions are still difficult, the people's education level is not high, and their legal awareness is limited, leading to many disputes, conflicts and violations of the law. In addition, people have difficulty accessing legal services and carrying out necessary legal procedures.

From 2023 to September 2025, the State Legal Aid Center No. 1 of Quang Ngai province handled about 1,000 cases, advised nearly 2,000 cases and organized about 60 communication and training sessions in ethnic minority areas, with more than 6,500 participants. This activity has contributed to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people, maintaining political security and social order, aiming at the goal of sustainable poverty reduction in mountainous areas.

In order to improve the quality of legal aid for ethnic minorities, in the coming time, the State Legal Aid Center No. 1 of Quang Ngai province will continue to promote propaganda and dissemination of legal education. The center also focuses on training professional skills for commune-level lawyers and consultants of the Community Law Center; at the same time, organizing mock trials, recreating real-life situations so that people can easily understand and apply them in life.
