Previously, on the evening of October 7, the patrol team of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station and Squadron 2 were patrolling to carry out the peak period against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, when they discovered two trawlers operating illegally.

Offending fishing vessels were arrested.

Specifically, fishing boats BTh 99588 TS captained by Mr. Pham Ba Hien and BTh 99248 TS captained by Mr. Huynh Van Tuan Em (both residing in Phu Thuy ward) were exploiting seafood using double trawl nets (flying rakes) in violation of regulations.

The patrol team quickly approached the vehicle, asked the two fishing boats to stop the violation and made a record to handle it according to the law.

Authorities brought the fishing boat back for processing.

Recently, the provincial Border Guard force has synchronously deployed measures to effectively combat IUU fishing in the province, contributing to joining hands with the whole country to remove the EC yellow card and build a sustainable fishery.

Along with that, the unit has stepped up propaganda work on legal regulations to fishermen and fishing boat owners; closely managed and monitored fishing boats when leaving and entering ports and strictly handled violations.
