Principal accused of changing grades from poor to good for ward official's child

Authorities of Ha Lam Ward (Quang Ninh) determined that there was a violation in changing the score from poor to excellent in the academic record of a female student who is the child of a ward official.

On October 18, the leader of the People's Committee of Ha Lam Ward ( Quang Ninh ) confirmed that he had received a complaint from a parent of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School regarding many issues at the school, including the correction of student scores on the electronic report card software.

Authorities are taking action to request disciplinary action against party members who violate the law.

According to feedback from parents and teachers, a female student, the child of an official working in Ha Lam Ward, had her semester exam scores corrected from the electronic transcript system, causing her academic results to "jump" from poor to excellent.

Documents provided by parents to authorities show photos of text messages from school leaders asking teachers to alter scores in math, science , computer science and English.

Notably, in the IT and English semester exams, the original score was 4 but was changed to 8 in the system, equivalent to excellent level.

Speaking to Thanh Nien reporter, the leader of Ha Lam Ward People's Committee said that after receiving the application, the unit established a verification working group. "The initial inspection results determined that there were shortcomings and violations by school officials and party members. We are reviewing the responsibilities of related individuals," he said.

According to the leader of the People's Committee of Ha Lam Ward, the violations occurred in the 2024-2025 school year. Two days ago, Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School merged and reorganized the board of directors. The accused person is currently the vice principal of the school.

Local authorities said they will continue to clarify the responsibilities of relevant individuals and groups; at the same time, consider expanding to other cases and handle them according to regulations if violations are discovered.
