Coach Amorim: 'Sometimes I hate Man United players and want to resign'

Before the match with Burnley in round 3 of the Premier League (9pm on August 30), Man United coach Ruben Amorim shared some remarkable things about the dark days for him and his team.

During the press conference, coach Amorim did not hesitate to admit his true feelings after Man United's defeat to the Fourth Division team Grimsby Town. It made the atmosphere at the "Theatre of Dreams" even more gloomy.

The Portuguese tactician expressed his utter disappointment when he said: “Every time the team loses, I always react very strongly. Sometimes I love, sometimes I hate the players. Sometimes I want to protect them, but sometimes I feel I cannot be with them.

Sometimes I want to leave immediately, but other times I want to stay for 20 years. That is who I am and I will not change.”

Amorim explained that the biggest disappointment was not the result, but the attitude and spirit of the players. He believed they had overlooked important details such as keeping position, fighting or moving without the ball. “The hardest thing to accept was not the result, but the way we lost,” he stressed.

The situation at Man United is not just a technical issue. The team is facing many uncertainties internally. Before the rumor that young talent Kobbie Mainoo wanted to leave on loan to find regular playing opportunities. Coach Amorim affirmed that he will fight to keep Mainoo: "I want Mainoo to stay. He has to fight for his position, and the team needs Mainoo."

With Man United currently 16th in the Premier League table and yet to win a game, the pressure on the Portuguese coach is growing.

However, he is still determined not to change his working philosophy: “Many people advise me to be calmer, but I can’t. That is my personality that creates my passion,” said coach Amorim.
