According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting early this morning (October 1), floods on Lo River (Tuyen Quang), Cau River, Thuong River (Bac Ninh), downstream of Thai Binh River (Hai Phong), and downstream of Ca River (Nghe An) are rising.
Thao River (Red River) through Yen Bai (Lao Cai province) and Ma River (Thanh Hoa) are falling.
At 6am this morning, the flood on the Lo River section passing through Ha Giang was at level 3, about 2.48m (about 0.9cm lower than the historical flood peak in 1969).
Rising floodwaters caused deep flooding in Ha Giang 1 and Ha Giang 2 wards, with some low-lying areas almost flooded up to the second floor.
It is forecasted that from this morning to noon, the flood on the Lo River section through Ha Giang will continue to rise, possibly exceeding the historical flood and reaching about 3.05m above BĐ3.
Downstream of Lo River at Bac Quang station, Vinh Tuy, Tuyen Quang, flood is also rising rapidly, forecast to be above alert level 3 this afternoon.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts that last night and early this morning (October 1), in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and northern Nghe An, there will continue to be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain such as Ho Thau 1 station (Tuyen Quang) 88mm, Chieng Noi station (Son La) 90mm, Giao An station (Thanh Hoa) 123mm, Tam Hop 2 station (Nghe An) 154mm...
Forecast today and tonight, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, Nghe An have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm, some places over 80mm.
Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and inundation in low-lying areas.
