Coach Hoang Anh Tuan made a surprising announcement before the Southeast Asian tournament semi-finals.

On the afternoon of August 23, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan had some notable shares in the press conference before the semi-final match of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament between U23 Vietnam and U23 Malaysia.

Talking about the upcoming competition, Mr. Tuan said that he does not focus on achievements but only wants to use these tournaments to help his students develop themselves.

“At this moment I only think about the match with U23 Malaysia, think about the man sitting next to me (Coach Elavarasan of U23 Malaysia).

The whole team is in good shape and ready for the match. In terms of results, U23 Malaysia winning is good but it would be even better if we reached the final.

Whatever the result, I believe we are working together for the development of Southeast Asian football, closer to continental level," said coach Hoang Anh Tuan.

Before leaving for the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, the Vietnam Football Federation also did not put much emphasis on the team's achievements.

However, coach Hoang Anh Tuan personally said he will try to help the team reach the final of the tournament.

Therefore, in the tournament held in Thailand, coach Hoang Anh Tuan only brought a team consisting of many players from the U18, U20 age groups and a few names from the U23 team.

However, up to now, the red team is still playing quite well, winning both matches against U23 Laos and U23 Philippines.

In the press conference after the match with U23 Philippines on the evening of August 22, the strategist from Khanh Hoa was very angry when midfielder Nguyen Van Truong could not keep his composure in the face of malicious tackles from his opponent.

However, when asked about this issue, coach Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed: "I have forgotten yesterday's match and Van Truong's actions.

My mind is no longer thinking about the past. Right now I only think about the semi-final match with U23 Malaysia.

If you ask about Van Truong's ability to play, I cannot answer. Let's wait for tomorrow's match."

According to the schedule, the semi-final match of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament between U23 Vietnam and U23 Malaysia will take place at 4:00 p.m. on August 24.
