Coach Kluivert sent a letter accepting responsibility to Indonesian fans

(Dan Tri) - Indonesia's dream of participating in the 2026 World Cup has gone up in smoke after two consecutive losses in the fourth qualifying round. Coach Patrick Kluivert took full responsibility for this failure.

Indonesia's 2026 World Cup dream was shattered when the archipelago nation lost both matches in the fourth qualifying round in Asia. Indonesia showed no power when facing Saudi Arabia and Iraq in Group B. On Instagram, Kluivert wrote: "Dear Indonesian fans. I feel the same pain and disappointment as you.

The defeats against Saudi Arabia and Iraq were bitter lessons and a reminder of how noble our shared dream is. As head coach, I take full responsibility.

We gave it our all, with heart, discipline and unity. Every day, the team strived to grow, learn and represent Indonesia with pride. We did not qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but we set a new standard that the team can build on with confidence.

We have worked tirelessly to bring together domestic and international players into one family, with the support of a team of staff who are always together - one heart and one voice.

This is part of a longer journey for the team, for the country, and for all who believe in Indonesian football. Real progress takes time. And what we have built together will continue to grow, far beyond today.

The seeds were planted in the mindset, in the culture, and in the belief that Indonesia belongs on the biggest stage.

Currently, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is facing increasing pressure from fans and domestic experts, demanding the dismissal of coach Kluivert after the World Cup dream has failed.
