The Vietnam U.20 women's team under the leadership of Coach Akira (Japan) has been training since January at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center ( Hanoi ). After 3 weeks of training, Coach Akira said that there were players who had worked with him before and there were also new faces joining the U.20 team for the first time. "The new players are fully supported by the old players. Everyone is working very well. I am satisfied with the progress of the members of the Vietnam U.20 women's team," said Coach Akira.
Coach Akira instructs the U.20 Vietnamese women's team players after each training session.
At the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship (also the final qualifying round for the World U20 Women's Championship) taking place in Uzbekistan in early March, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team is in Group B with Japan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and China. This is considered an extremely difficult group for Coach Akira and his team because Japan U20 and North Korea U20 are the reigning champions and runners-up, respectively, while China is also a strong and experienced opponent. Therefore, according to Coach Akira, the goal of the Vietnam U20 Women's Team is to compete and gain experience.
Vietnam U.20 women's team players have Tet holiday but focus on maintaining fitness and form
The time to the U.20 Women's Asian Cup final is approaching, so Coach Akira only gave the U.20 team 4 days off for Tet, starting from tomorrow morning's training session (February 8). "Vietnamese Tet is an important holiday, so I let the players have a few days off to rest and celebrate Tet with their families. However, the upcoming tournament is equally important, so I still assign exercises to the players during Tet to maintain their form and fitness. This generation of players is older and conscious in training, so we only control their weight, they know how to maintain their health and fitness," Coach Akira confided.
The Vietnam U.20 women's team will compete in the final round of the U.20 Women's Asian Cup, facing very strong teams such as Japan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and China.
It is known that after the Tet holiday, the Vietnam U.20 women's team will strengthen their physical strength and spend more time practicing techniques and tactics combined with friendly matches to perfect their playing style for the final round of the U.20 Women's Asia.
