Coach Philippe Troussier finalizes the list of players for the Vietnamese national team

On the afternoon of November 2, Coach Troussier finalized the list of players called up to the Vietnamese national team to prepare for the two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Philippines and Iraq in November. Cong Phuong's name was not on this list.

These are two very important matches for the Vietnamese team in the competition in Group F of the second qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Asia.

Therefore, head coach Philippe Troussier has selected the best performing players after the friendly matches during FIFA Days in June, September and October.

Once again, like in the past matches with China, Uzbekistan, and South Korea, the French strategist removed striker Nguyen Cong Phuong of Yokohama Club (Japan).

Familiar faces such as goalkeeper Dang Van Lam; defenders Que Ngoc Hai, Do Duy Manh, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Nguyen Thanh Binh; midfielders Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Tuan Anh; strikers Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Van Toan, Nguyen Tien Linh are all on the list.

Besides, the Vietnamese team also welcomed the remarkable return of some veterans, defenders Vu Van Thanh, Pham Xuan Pham and striker Nguyen Van Quyet.

In addition, excellent young players who have been trained through previous training sessions of the national team will continue to be given opportunities, including some prominent names such as Khuat Van Khang, Hoang Van Toan, Nguyen Thai Son, Giap Tuan Duong, Vo Minh Trong, Phan Tuan Tai, Luong Duy Cuong, Ho Van Cuong, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Dinh Bac...

The regrettable absences in this training session are defender Doan Van Hau and midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai. The Hanoi Police Club players are still recovering from injuries.

Another notable point, as part of the plan to prepare for the 2024 U23 Asian Cup finals to take place in April 2024, on the occasion of the Vietnamese team gathering, coach Philippe Troussier will also create conditions for some young U23 players to practice with their seniors.

The players selected this time include goalkeeper Cao Van Binh (Song Lam Nghe An - SLNA), defender Nguyen Quang Huy (Ba Ria Vung Tau), midfielder Ha Van Phuong (Hanoi Police), Tran Manh Quynh (SLNA), Tran Nam Hai (SLNA), Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong (Ba Ria Vung Tau), striker Vo Nguyen Hoang (Dong A Thanh Hoa) and Bui Vi Hao ( Binh Duong ).

According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from November 6-12, before leaving for Manila (Philippines) to play the opening match against the Philippines team, taking place at Rizal Memorial Stadium, on November 16.

After this match, coach Philippe Troussier and his team will return home to prepare for the match against Iraq, taking place at My Dinh Stadium on November 21.

Regarding the home match between Vietnam and Iraq, VFF has planned to issue tickets for fans to come to the stadium to cheer on coach Troussier's team.

Tickets are expected to be issued through online ticket sales channels from November 7 with 4 denominations: 200,000 VND, 300,000 VND, 450,000 VND and 600,000 VND.
