This is the first time in 56 years that a European World Cup qualifying match has had 12 goals. The record was set by Germany in 1969 when they beat Cyprus 12-0.

At Ullevaal Stadium (Norway) in the early morning of September 10, the difference in class was quickly evident. In the 6th minute, Erling Haaland approached the goal, then passed the ball just in time for Felix Myhre to open the score.
Just five minutes later, Haaland himself put his name on the scoreboard with a simple shot from close range, after a careless pass from a Moldova defender.
Facing Moldova's weak resistance, Haaland did not take long to complete his hat-trick in the first half. He scored two more goals in the 36th and 43rd minutes before Martin Odegaard made it 5-0 in the 45+1 minute.
The second half continued to be Haaland's own stage. The Man City striker quickly scored his 4th goal with an accurate header, bringing the score to 6-0.
When the game became too easy, midfielder Thelo Aasgaard also showed himself with a poker (4 goals) against Moldova in the 67th, 76th, 79th and 90+1st minutes. Interspersed with Haaland's 5th goal in the 83rd minute after a pass from Julian Ryerson, closing the match with an unbelievable score of 11-1. The only goal Moldova got was an own goal by Leo Skiri Ostigard in the 74th minute.
According to statistics from Sofascore, striker Erling Haaland had an incredible day. In 89 minutes on the field, he had 38 touches, 10 shots (7 on target), directly contributed to 7 goals and received an absolute score of 10.

Specifically, the Man City striker scored 4 goals with his right foot and 1 goal with his head. In addition to 5 goals, he also contributed 2 important assists, including the pass for Felix Myhre to open the score and the pass for Thelo Aasgaard to score the goal that sealed the historic victory.
Haaland's impressive form has helped him assert his position as one of the best strikers in the world . In his last 8 appearances for Norway, the Man City striker has scored and become the first European player in 47 years to score 5 goals in a World Cup qualifier.
Notably, with 48 goals in 45 matches, Haaland broke an 87-year-old record to become the highest scorer in the history of the Norwegian national team.
With an 11-1 victory over Moldova, Norway has a big advantage in the race for a ticket to the 2026 World Cup. Coach Stale Solbakken and his team have firmly established the top position in Group I with 15 points, 6 points ahead of their direct competitor, Italy.
