On the afternoon of September 18, information from the Ministry of Education and Training said that on the same day, the Ministry issued an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities regarding tuition support for students in areas affected by storms and floods.
The dispatch stated that the Ministry of Education and Training has issued Official Dispatch No. 2179/BGDĐT-KHTC dated May 13, 2024 and Official Dispatch No. 4916/BGDĐT dated August 30, 2024 to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities on the implementation of revenues in the education and training sector for the 2024-2025 school year.
Recently, in addition to policies on tuition exemption and reduction, support for learning costs and tuition payment support according to Government regulations, many provinces and cities have issued Resolutions on tuition support policies for preschool and primary school students in the area.
The Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciates the care and attention of provinces and cities for education and shares difficulties with parents and students.
Storm No. 3 (Yagi) and the recent floods and rains have severely affected many provinces and cities.
The Ministry of Education and Training requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to continue to base on the level of damage to the people, consider and decide to support tuition fees, not collect tuition fees for preschool children and primary school students according to their authority and current legal regulations to share and support parents and students, especially for students in areas affected by storms, floods and natural disasters.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training also sent a dispatch requesting universities and teacher training colleges to implement support measures for students affected by storm No. 3.
To continue supporting students affected by storms and floods to quickly stabilize their studies, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends that schools pay attention to and prioritize allocating resources to exempt and reduce tuition fees and have financial support policies suitable to each student's circumstances.
At the same time, instruct students to contact local authorities to request confirmation of cases where the family has sudden financial difficulties to apply for credit loans to support their studies.
