According to a report by the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, heavy rains and whirlwinds caused by storm No. 10 (Bualoi) caused major damage to the school system. Preliminary statistics show that 483 educational establishments across the province were affected, with estimated damage of more than VND300 billion.

In Do Luong commune, Da Son Primary School had half of its roof blown off, was flooded, and many trees were broken. Principal Phan Ba Dong said that in just over a month, the school had suffered two major storms.

Many buildings of Le Thi Bach Cat Secondary School had their roofs blown off, were flooded, and had trees broken. Teaching equipment, desks, chairs, and classroom furniture were severely damaged.

Cao Son Primary School (Cao Son Commune) is still submerged in water. The school yard is deeply flooded, the yellow water has risen almost to the first floor porch. Many classrooms are flooded and cannot be used.

The rising water level flooded the entire road. Teachers had to wear life jackets and travel to school by boat. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang (homeroom teacher of class 1A) choked up: "This is the most devastating storm in the past 5 years. Looking at the scene before my eyes, I am extremely sad for the place that used to be my second home."

Ms. Lo Thi Minh Hue - Principal of Nghi Tan Secondary School cried: "Before the storm, teachers, students and parents reinforced the doors and supported the roof with sandbags, bamboo, but this time the wind was too strong, causing severe destruction."

Nghi Tan Secondary School had to apply the “study while repairing” model to avoid program interruption. Some classes were temporarily arranged to study in the practice room. As for Information Technology, due to broken computers, students only studied theory.
On September 30, Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh directly inspected and acknowledged the efforts of the schools, and at the same time requested to promptly compile detailed statistics of the damage so that the province could arrange emergency funds to avoid interruption of learning.
The Department of Education and Training directed schools to urgently clean up and repair facilities. Facilities that are not yet safe will not be allowed for students to return to school.
