Storm No. 10's circulation broke a fish pond in Lao Cai, killing 2 people.

On October 1, in Lang Giang village, Bao Thang commune, Lao Cai province, the impact of storm No. 10 causing continuous heavy rain for many days caused landslides that broke the pond bank of a household, killing 2 people and injuring 2 others.

Previously, at around 5am on October 1, four workers working for Ms. Ngo Thi Dung's family in Lang Giang village, Bao Thang commune went to the pond bank when the pond suddenly broke, causing the whole group to be swept away. The victims were Ly Thi Dan (born in 1985) and Tan A Thong (born in 1987), residing in Nam Ma commune, Lai Chau province; Ly A Hien (born in 1979) and Tan Thi Niem (born in 1976), residing in Nam Tam commune, Lai Chau province.

On the evening of October 1, giving more specific information about the incident, Chairman of Bao Thang Commune People's Committee Nguyen Trung Thanh said that the cause of the pond breaking was due to heavy rains in recent days causing a landslide on the hill next to the pond with hundreds of cubic meters of earth and rock causing the pond to break. Ly Thi Dan and her husband Tan A Thu were lucky to escape and were injured. Ly A Hien and her husband Tan Thi Niem unfortunately went missing after being swept away by the water. Immediately after the incident, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Bao Thang Commune quickly deployed measures and mobilized local forces to search for the remaining victims.

At 5:00 p.m. the same day, the search and rescue team found the body of Ly A Hien. Before that, the body of Tan Thi Niem was found at around 11:00 a.m. the same day. Bao Thang commune visited and encouraged the families of the victims and supported the means to bring the bodies of Ly A Hien and his wife back to their hometown for burial according to local customs. Currently, Ly Thi Dan and her husband and Tan A Thu are being treated at Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2.

On the same day, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited and encouraged Mr. Tan A Thong and his wife who are being treated at Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2.

Lao Cai provincial leaders kindly visited, presented gifts and sent deep encouragement to the victims and their spouses, hoping that they would maintain their spirits, feel secure in their treatment, and soon recover their health to stabilize their lives; at the same time, directed the Provincial General Hospital to ensure human resources, medicine, and medical equipment to promptly receive, provide first aid, and provide the best treatment for the patients.
