Completing the plan for the Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange

On the afternoon of October 14, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Deputy Minister of National Defense , led a working delegation from the Ministry of National Defense to inspect and agree on plans to organize the second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program in Tay Ninh province.

At the checkpoints, the working delegation listened to progress reports and organizational plans of the forces, authorities and localities; specifically inspected the area of the Moc Bai-Ba Vet International Border Gate, border sovereignty marker 171, the planned location for the joint military medical exercise, as well as civil- military works that will be inaugurated on the occasion of the exchange.

The working delegation of the Ministry of National Defense also worked with representatives of the government and military forces, border guards of Svay Teap district, Svay Rieng province (Cambodia) to check and agree on the organization plan, and at the same time discussed people-to-people exchange activities, medical examination and treatment, friendship tree planting, landmark painting, etc., contributing to deepening the solidarity and friendship between the people and armed forces of the two countries.

Concluding the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that the Border Defense Friendship Exchange is a political , diplomatic and defense event of special importance; requiring relevant forces to coordinate closely, ensuring absolute political safety, security, traffic safety and medical safety for the planned activities.

Propaganda work needs to be strengthened, and a solemn welcome ceremony needs to be prepared, demonstrating the spirit of friendship, responsibility and professionalism of the Vietnam People's Army.

The second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange is scheduled to be held from November 13-14 with many diverse activities, including talks between the two countries' Defense Ministers, exchanges of young officers, twinning of residential areas on both sides of the border, medical examination and treatment for border residents, inauguration of friendship works and joint military medical exercises. The event is expected to not only strengthen bilateral defense cooperation but also contribute to building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and sustainably developed border.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that agencies and units must complete all specialized plans and overall scenarios before October 25, and agree on all contents with the Cambodian side within the same deadline.

Units need to reasonably calculate the duration for each activity, ensuring the entire program is implemented smoothly and closely, clearly demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Deputy Minister of National Defense - requested to renovate the entire area of the Moc Bai-Ba Vet International Border Gate, in which the Propaganda Department (Ministry of National Defense) is responsible for designing, completing, ensuring aesthetics, solemnity and unity.

At the joint military medical exercise, Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien highly appreciated the results of the training of the Vietnam People's Army and the Royal Cambodian Army, and said that the coordination work, preparation of forces, means and specialized equipment were carried out methodically, according to the requirements. However, the units increased the speed of handling situations, increased the urgency in maneuvering and emergency, reflecting the characteristics of real situations.

For the reception and cultural exchange program, it is necessary to demonstrate the spirit of friendship and respect for each other's culture, while increasing the participation of local leaders, creating a warm and close atmosphere.

Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien especially noted that security and safety work is an important requirement in the entire program.

The second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program in Tay Ninh province was comprehensively and thoughtfully directed by the Ministry of National Defense to ensure the exchange program was successful, safe, and worthy of the status of friendly neighborly relations between the two nations.

The organizing committee is committed to completing preparations on schedule and ensuring all conditions for the event to contribute to increasing trust and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia./.
