The UPU International Letter Writing Competition has been organized by the Universal Postal Union since 1971. In Vietnam, the national round usually has over a million entries. The first prize winner's letter will be translated into French and sent to the international competition.

This year's theme is related to the United Nations' action plan on road safety, asking students to imagine themselves as superheroes, making every road safe for children. Khuong Duy transformed into superhero S-247, wrote a letter to his parents on planet Love-365, telling them about what he did on Earth. Duy said his house is near a national highway, and he has witnessed many vehicle collisions, so traffic safety is also a topic he is interested in.

In the letter, the male student showed his ability to find and apply a lot of current information. When mentioning the current situation of traffic accidents, Duy used the comparison image "every four minutes, the evil god of traffic accidents takes away a little angel from the Earth".

Poet Tran Dang Khoa, head of the national jury of the contest, said that Khuong Duy's letter had rich and poetic language and expression. He said that this article was highly appreciated because of the way it incorporated data, always emphasizing that traffic problems are a concern of "Earth", not just Vietnam.

Before Khuong Duy, Vietnam had two first prizes, two second prizes, seven third prizes and six international consolation prizes at this competition.
