More than 3,500 candidates participated in the first round of the exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, to get admission scores to 7 pedagogical schools nationwide.
At 5:00 a.m. on March 29, Dang Thu Thao, a student at Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted, Dak Lak province, arrived at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education after a night in the car.
The female student won first prize in the provincial math competition, so she is almost certain to be admitted to university. However, Thao wants to take another exam to test her ability and increase her chances of being admitted to the school's math education program.
"I have been passionate about Math since primary school. My personality is also suitable for the teaching profession, and my family has a tradition of teaching, so I decided to pursue this field," Thao shared.

Having dreamed of becoming a teacher since childhood and supported by his family, Minh Thang, a 12th grade student at Di An High School, Binh Duong province, registered for two aptitude tests in March and May. Thang said his main wish was to get early admission scores to the Mathematics Pedagogy major.
"I like to learn and teach others, so perhaps teaching is the right career for me. Taking part in this exam will give me more opportunities," Thang said.
After 90 minutes of doing the test, Thang was excited because the test was within his ability. He finished all 50 questions in the test and expected to get 7-8 points.
"The test is very differentiated, from easy to difficult. There are practical questions that I feel like I need to imagine a lot about spatial geometry, and have a solid grasp of 11th and 12th grade knowledge to be able to do the test," said the male student.
Thao assessed that the exam was long but within his ability, with most of the knowledge being from the 11th and 12th grade curriculum. Meanwhile, Minh Khoi, a 12th grade student in Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City, did not have enough time to complete the exam. Predicting a low result, Khoi said he might register for the school's next exam.

The country currently has two separate entrance exams for the group of Pedagogical schools, organized by Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Pedagogical University. The exam for Hanoi Pedagogical University will take place in May.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the results of the specialized competency assessment test are used in the admission method combined with the academic record. The school plans to reserve a maximum of 40% of the quota for each major for this admission method.
The admission score is the total score of the specialized competency assessment test (main subject) multiplied by a factor of 2, plus the average score of the two remaining subjects in the combination, then converted to a 30-point scale and plus priority points for subjects and regions (if any).
Six other pedagogical schools use the exam results of Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University for admission, including: Hanoi Pedagogical University, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, and pedagogical schools under Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University and Vinh University.
Last year, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's competency assessment exam had about 4,400 candidates participating, double that of 2022. The admission score of the combined high school transcript score and competency assessment exam score ranged from 15.63 to 28.11 points.
