Hanoi University of Science and Technology has just announced the 2026 thinking assessment exam. Accordingly, next year, the exam is expected to be held in 3 rounds, each round will have 3-4 test teams at 30 test sites like last year:
Phase 1: January 24-25, 2026; registration date December 5-15, 2025.
Phase 2: March 14-15, 2026; registration date February 5-15, 2026.
Phase 3: May 16-17, 2026; registration date April 5-15, 2026.
The test remains stable in structure, consisting of 3 sections: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes). These are 3 independent sections, the test questions will focus on assessing the candidate's thinking ability in each section, not directly testing the knowledge of any subject.
The exam is organized in a streamlined and efficient manner, applying advanced testing technologies, approaching modern thinking assessment exams in the world , such as SAT, ACT... Many modern testing technologies are applied to the exam such as standardized thinking question construction technology, bridge theory in the exam, scoring technology according to the multi-parameter IRT model...
The test will be in the form of multiple choice tests on computers, and the results will be valid for 2 years for university admission purposes.
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized 3 exam sessions on weekends with 30 exam locations in Hanoi and provinces and cities, including: Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang, attracting nearly 57,000 participants of more than 28,000 candidates.
The exam results have been used by more than 50 universities for university admissions for the 2025-2026 academic year.
