Attending the meeting were Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Workshop Steering Committee; representatives of leaders and commanders of a number of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense and Gia Lai province.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh chaired the Steering Committee meeting of the Conference commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Plei Me Victory.

At the meeting, the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History - the Standing Office of the Steering Committee reported on the results of preparations for the conference, scheduled to take place on November 18 at the Hall of the 34th Corps Command.

The workshop with the theme “Plei Me Victory - Size, significance and historical lessons”, chaired by the Ministry of National Defense, in coordination with Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee organized in a centralized form. It is expected that about 250 delegates, scientists , officers and soldiers will attend directly; 100 officers and soldiers of the 34th Corps will attend the study at the hall.

The workshop aimed to clarify the correct policy of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh in launching the Plei Me Campaign; affirm the great significance of this victory for the cause of resistance against the US and national salvation; and at the same time educate the tradition of patriotism and the will of self-reliance and self-strengthening for cadres, soldiers and people.

The workshop is also an opportunity to draw historical lessons on leadership, strategic direction and organization, and campaign coordination, and apply them to the cause of national construction and defense in the new period.

The preparation for the conference has been carried out seriously and comprehensively. Up to now, the Organizing Committee has received 85 presentations, including 5 main reports and 80 presentations from agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense, academies, schools, research centers, and historical witnesses.

The presentations focused on clarifying the role and position of the Plei Me Victory in the resistance war against the US to save the country as well as its theoretical and practical value in leadership and combat command. Planned activities on the sidelines of the conference include: Offering incense at the Gia Lai Province Martyrs Cemetery, visiting and giving gifts to policy families, holding press conferences, etc.

After listening to the report and comments at the meeting, on behalf of the workshop Steering Committee, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh praised the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History for proactively and closely coordinating with the Office of the Ministry of National Defense, Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee and relevant agencies and units to comprehensively deploy the preparation work, especially the content of the presentations and printing of the conference proceedings.

For the conference to take place thoughtfully, solemnly, on schedule and with high quality, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh requested the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee to do a good job of ensuring reception, arranging accommodation and meals for delegates; coordinate in organizing incense offering and visiting and giving gifts to policy families; direct the organization of press conferences, and orient propaganda on mass media.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh requested the Office of the Ministry of National Defense to prepare a plan to invite Central delegates and the head of the Ministry of National Defense; to preside over the general organization work. The 34th Army Corps shall preside over the preparation of the hall, decoration, diagram, slogans, sound, light, reception; participate in incense offering, gift giving and security and reception activities.

Military Region 5 and Army Corps 15 coordinated to organize sideline activities; ensured accommodation and meals for delegates at the Corps Guest House. The Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and History developed a detailed plan for welcoming and arranging delegates, distributing documents; coordinated with agencies to ensure the conference hall, security, and communications, ensuring absolute safety for the conference.
