Huyền Sâm received backlash for playing a harsh mother

Audiences commented that the role of Thuan played by actress Huyen Sam in the movie "Hoa sua ve trong gio" has an unpleasant and selfish personality.

In the family-themed series currently airing episode 16, Huyen Sam plays a woman who is often grumpy with her husband and children. When her daughter is sick, she still makes her go to class. During meals, Thuan nags her about her poor grades.

Even though she had her own family, Thuan often went back to her mother's house and kept an eye on her brother's family. She did not like her mother being close to her sister-in-law, often causing a rift in their relationship. Knowing that her niece - Trang - did not want to do a government job as her father wanted, she used this to gossip, causing conflict between father and daughter.

On the producer’s fanpage, audience member Bich Phuong commented that the character is mean, selfish, and doesn’t care about the feelings of those around him. In addition, the actor’s grimacing expression and harsh voice made many viewers uncomfortable. However, others commented that the character is realistic.

Playing a formidable role for the first time, Huyen Sam was sad when reading negative comments. She said it took a lot of effort to get into character, especially the arguing scenes. From the moment she read the script, the actress felt that Thuan was a cruel person, so she had to raise her voice to bring out the "character". In the next episodes, the scriptwriter will reveal the reason why Thuan is strict with his relatives, especially his daughter.

According to director Bui Tien Huy, the role of Thuan reflects parents who are too strict, have high expectations of their children, and do not pay attention to their feelings. This creates family conflicts and rifts between generations.

Huyền Sâm is 37 years old, currently an artist of the Army Drama Theater, with the rank of major. She plays series gentle supporting roles in films like Sunflower Against the Sun, May 11, Birth and Death, Genealogy of the Earth, Undercurrents.
