Located in the west of the province, the border commune of Ia Puch has an important strategic position in both socio-economic development and national defense and security.

Ia Puch commune has 4 villages, of which Goong village and Binh village are in particularly difficult situations. The commune's poverty rate is 12.5% (118 households), near-poor households are 8.37% (79 households). The commune Party Committee has determined the goal throughout the 2025-2030 term to be sustainable economic development, improving people's lives associated with strengthening national defense and security; striving for a poverty reduction rate of 2-3% each year.

From resolutions to people's lives

Secretary of the Siu H'Ler Commune Party Committee said: To effectively implement the set goals, the commune focuses on transforming the structure of crops and livestock towards commodity production, improving land use efficiency. In addition, the commune encourages people to focus on intensive cultivation of key crops including rice, corn, cassava, cashew, beans and rubber. At the same time, it encourages people to expand livestock farming.

Commune officials are assigned to stay close to the area, guiding people to borrow and effectively use the support capital. The work of reviewing and evaluating poor and near-poor households is carried out seriously, transparently, and correctly.

Ms. Siu Bin - Party Cell Secretary and Head of Chu Ko Village - said: In recent times, people have changed their production habits. Up to now, 13 households have converted 9 hectares of land in the village fields to wet rice cultivation, with a yield of 4-4.5 tons/ha. Thanks to that, people's lives have gradually improved. It is expected that by the end of this year, the village will have only 17 poor households, a decrease of 8 households compared to last year.

“We are mobilizing households with land along the canals of the Ia Púch irrigation reservoir project to continue converting low-yield cashew areas to rice cultivation. However, the cost of leveling is high, so we hope that units located in the area will support people to have conditions to develop production,” Ms. Bin shared.

Mr. Ksor Am (Binh village) is an exemplary party member who is at the forefront of economic development. His family owns 22 hectares of land, most of which is steep, arid hilly land. After many years of experimentation, he boldly switched from growing coffee to high-yield cashew trees and tested planting 250 water coconut trees in low-lying areas that are often flooded. In addition, he raises 8 cows. Currently, his family has 2,000 rubber trees, 12 hectares of cashew trees, 2.5 hectares of eucalyptus trees and 250 water coconut trees. Each year, his family has a stable income of more than 500 million VND.

“If you want to escape poverty, you have to be diligent in learning and bold in experimenting. The land is difficult, but if you know how to choose the right crops, you can still get rich,” Mr. Am shared.

Economic development associated with maintaining borders

In addition to socio-economic development, Ia Puch commune attaches special importance to the task of strengthening national defense and security. The commune Party Committee has concretized the resolution by strengthening coordination with Ia Puch Border Guard Station and the Training-Mobile Battalion (Provincial Border Guard Command), creating a combined strength in protecting territorial sovereignty , national border security and social order and safety.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ngon Ngoc Cuong - Head of Ia Púch Border Guard Station, the unit regularly coordinates closely with local authorities to grasp the political security situation, social order and safety; strictly manage the area and subjects, promptly advise on handling cases right at the grassroots level. Propaganda work is promoted in many forms, helping people raise awareness, comply well with the Party and State's guidelines and policies, and actively participate in the movement of the whole people participating in protecting territorial sovereignty and border security in the new situation.

The Party Committee and the Border Guard Station Command assigned 4 party members to participate in activities at 4 village party cells; 18 cadres and party members are in charge of 84 households with 370 people. This model has contributed to strengthening the leadership capacity of the party cells, linking party building work with economic development and maintaining security and order.

Since then, many party members have become "nuclei" in the movement to mobilize the masses to develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably; support people to convert crops and livestock to suit local conditions. In addition, humanitarian programs such as "Helping children go to school" and "Adopted children of Border Guard Station" have also been effectively implemented, helping poor students to study well, supporting disadvantaged households to repair their houses, develop livelihoods, and strengthen the military-civilian relationship at the border.

Party Secretary of Siu H'Ler commune emphasized: The goal by 2030 is for Ia Puch to become a commune strong in national defense and security, with 100% of residential areas, agencies, and schools meeting safety standards for security and order, and striving to be a drug-free commune.
