Western tourists drink a bowl of fish sauce when trying Vietnamese vermicelli with grilled pork for the first time.

When visiting Vietnam, American YouTuber Sonny Side posted a video of him enjoying Hanoi-style bun cha at a famous restaurant on Truong Dinh Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Sonny Side affirmed that bun cha is one of the most easy-to-eat Vietnamese dishes for foreign tourists.

Accordingly, Sonny Side ordered a full serving of bun cha including vermicelli, grilled pork, and raw vegetables.

A foreign male tourist expressed his love for bun cha and affirmed: "This is a dish my parents definitely love."

Besides the fragrant, golden grilled meat and sausage, the dipping sauce with carrots and kohlrabi helps enhance the flavor of the bun cha dish.

Sonny also tried eating noodles and grilled meat in lettuce, rolled it up like Korean BBQ and confirmed that the taste did not change much.

While eating, Sonny Side recounted the memory of his first visit to Vietnam, when he ordered a portion of bun cha and drank the fish sauce because he thought it was a side dish. At that time, he still considered this dish delicious with a unique flavor. However, he was thirsty all day because the fish sauce was a bit salty.

"There is no absolutely correct way to eat. But don't drink fish sauce. That's fine," he said humorously.

In addition to bun cha, Sonny Side did not forget to order beer and a plate of crab cakes to try. The male tourist was surprised because the crab cakes here were packed with filling, firm and quite big.

"Overseas, a restaurant can serve a big plate with a very small crab inside and cost up to 17 USD. Meanwhile, here, a plate of crab cake filled with shrimp, crab, meat and some herbs is very cheap," said Sonny Side.
