On October 3, the Hanoi Statistics Office announced the socio -economic situation report for the third quarter and the first 9 months of 2025. Accordingly, the capital's GRDP in the third quarter of 2025 is estimated to increase by 8.2% over the same period, contributing to the overall growth rate in the first 9 months of the year reaching 7.92%. This figure is higher than the increase in the same period in 2024 (6.33%) and shows a gradual improvement trend over the quarters: the first quarter increased by 7.52%, the second quarter increased by 8%, and the third quarter increased by 8.2%.
In the growth structure, the service sector continued to be a bright spot with an increase of 8.83% in the third quarter, contributing 5.86 percentage points to GRDP. In the first 9 months, the service sector increased by 8.74%, contributing 5.92 percentage points, becoming the main pillar of the economy.

Service sectors with high growth rates include: arts, entertainment and recreation increased by 13.38% (contributing 0.08 points); administration and support services increased by 12.81% (0.5 points); state management activities, the Party, socio- political organizations, national security and defense increased by 12.05% (0.17 points); transportation and warehousing increased by 11.65% (0.96 points); education and training increased by 11.51% (0.44 points); accommodation and catering services increased by 9.44% (0.16 points); wholesale and retail increased by 9.13% (0.94 points).
The industrial and construction sector increased by 7.35% in the third quarter, contributing 1.59 percentage points; in the first 9 months, it increased by 7.03%, contributing 1.39 points. The processing and manufacturing industry is still affected by the international situation, especially the US's adjustment of tariff policies, but still achieved an increase of 6.99% (contributing 0.89 points). The construction sector maintained an increase of 7.11%, contributing 0.51 points.
The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.43% in the first nine months compared to the same period in 2024 (the first quarter increased by 3.34%; the second quarter increased by 3.18%; the third quarter increased by 3.89%), contributing 0.07 percentage points to the total GRDP. Product taxes minus product subsidies increased by 5.17%, contributing 0.55 percentage points.
In terms of economic structure, the service sector accounts for the largest proportion at 67.65%, industry - construction accounts for 20.53%, agriculture - forestry - fishery accounts for 1.92%, the rest is product tax minus product subsidies accounting for 9.90%. Compared to the same period in 2024, the proportion of services increased (from 66.88% to 67.65%), while industry - construction decreased slightly (from 20.95% to 20.53%), agriculture - forestry - fishery decreased from 1.99% to 1.92% and product tax from 10.18% to 9.90%.
Overall, the report shows that Hanoi’s economy continues to grow steadily amid many challenges. The service sector plays a key role, while industry and construction are making efforts to adapt to international fluctuations. The 7.92% increase in the first nine months of the year is considered positive, creating a premise for Hanoi to complete its socio-economic development goals by 2025.
