Opening Ceremony of the 2024 National Defense Sports Festival

On June 2, at Infantry Regiment 896, the Provincial Military Command (CHQS) held the opening ceremony of the 2024 National Defense Sports Festival. Attending were comrade Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Vo Van Ba, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5; leaders of departments, branches, localities and armed forces units stationed in the province.

The sports festival attracted nearly 400 athletes who are regular soldiers and militia and self-defense forces from agencies and units under the Provincial Military Command, Infantry Regiment 896 and 7 district and city units. During 4 days, the athletes competed in 10 events; of which, the regular forces competed in 7 events including: 3000m armed run to overcome obstacles, strong soldiers, armed swimming, overcoming obstacles for physical training, men's volleyball, badminton and table tennis.

For the militia and self-defense force, there will be 3 events for men and women: Military triathlon, armed swimming and martial arts. Through the sports festival, the best athletes will be selected, and a delegation of athletes from the Provincial Military Command will be established to train and compete in the National Defense Sports Festival organized by Military Region 5.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the National Defense Sports Festival is an important task in the local defense and military work to check and evaluate the results of training and physical training of the provincial armed forces. Through the Sports Festival, it is possible to improve the management level, organize training and physical training for officers and soldiers at all levels, meeting the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Military Command to direct and manage the sports festival closely and scientifically ; prepare sufficient human resources, equipment and logistics to best serve the Sports Festival, ensuring absolute safety in all aspects. At the same time, honestly, objectively and correctly evaluate the level and capacity of athletes, build a spirit of solidarity, emulation, learning and exchanging experiences between units, as a basis to improve the quality of training, activities and combat readiness, meeting all assigned tasks.
