At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trung, Chairman of Cho Lon Ward People's Committee said: "Cho Lon Ward Lantern Street" was formed with the goal of preserving and promoting the unique cultural values of the locality, while creating a shopping, sightseeing and experience space imbued with cultural and tourism identity. Not only is it a meeting place for entertainment every Mid-Autumn Festival, "Lantern Street" has become an attractive cultural destination, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to promoting the image of Cho Lon Ward and Ho Chi Minh City".
In addition to its spiritual value, "Lantern Street" also has profound economic and social significance. Every year, this place welcomes tens of thousands of visitors to visit, shop, experience cuisine, have fun and take photos. This activity has contributed to increasing people's income, promoting trade and service development; at the same time, improving the quality of community life, being a bridge between tradition and modernity, opening up opportunities for sustainable tourism development, contributing positively to the overall development of the city.
Ms. Thuy Nga, a resident of Cho Lon ward, shared: “Like every year, every Mid-Autumn Festival, my family and I go to "Lantern Street" for a walk. The atmosphere here is very special, both recalling childhood memories and bringing joy to family reunions. I hope this activity will be maintained for a long time so that the younger generation can continue to feel and appreciate the beauty of tradition.”
Khanh Ngoc, 8 years old (Cho Lon ward) excitedly said: “I really like my mother taking me to the "Lantern Street". There are many beautiful lanterns and many fun games here. I hope every Mid-Autumn Festival I can come here to carry lanterns with my friends.”
According to the organizers, "Cho Lon Lantern Street" will take place from September 24 to October 6, 2025. During this time, many exchange activities, art performances, lion and dragon dances, and folk games will be held, bringing people and tourists experiences imbued with traditional cultural identity.
Cho Lon Ward is a place where the quintessence of Vietnamese and Chinese culture converges and blends, and has long been famous for its streets specializing in selling lanterns and products for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Traditional lanterns such as star lanterns, carp lanterns, dragon lanterns, along with modern battery-powered lanterns, moon cakes and many other products have created a vibrant and festive atmosphere every August of the lunar calendar.
