Maximize potential, turn Gia Lai into a fairly developed province

(GLO)- The draft Political Report submitted to the 1st Congress of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, has received many enthusiastic contributions, with the expectation of creating a breakthrough, bringing Gia Lai to soon rise to the group of fairly developed provinces, confidently entering a new era with the whole country.

Unity and action to achieve double-digit growth

Contributing his opinion to the draft Political Report, Mr. Nguyen Duy Quy - former Acting Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee said that after the merger of the two provinces, Gia Lai now has the second largest area in the country, with a population of more than 3.5 million people. The combination of the advantages of "golden forests and silver seas" gives Gia Lai great development potential, open space, and strong breakthrough opportunities if it knows how to "awaken" and exploit them all.

According to the draft resolution, the growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the 2025 - 2030 period is expected to reach 10 - 10.5% per year. Mr. Quy affirmed that this target is completely feasible if Party committees and authorities at all levels promote the spirit of solidarity, unified action, and resolute and synchronous direction in implementing socio-economic development goals and targets.

“The five pillars of growth and four breakthroughs have clearly defined the province’s direction in the next five years. However, the most important thing is the consensus within the entire system. If this can be done, Gia Lai will certainly make a breakthrough, bringing double-digit economic growth,” Mr. Quy emphasized.

Along with that, Gia Lai needs to effectively implement Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 of the Politburo on private economic development. When the investment, production and business environment is open and barriers are removed, the private economic sector will become an important driving force, strongly contributing to the overall development.

Mr. Quy also appreciated the working spirit of "working until the job is done, not until the end of the day" of the provincial leaders since the merger on July 1, 2025.

The overall review of the province's socio-economic situation, accurate identification of bottlenecks and timely issuance of quick and appropriate policies and adjustments have created high consensus among people and businesses.

"This spirit needs to continue to spread in the new term so that Gia Lai can develop to its full potential," he said.

Breakthrough from personnel work

Emphasizing the human factor, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh - Member of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, former Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission (old) proposed adding a breakthrough in the new term 2025 - 2030 to the draft Political Report, which is a breakthrough in the work of organizing cadres.

According to him, to have a streamlined and efficient apparatus, it is necessary to continue to arrange, perfect, and consolidate, along with streamlining the payroll. The political system must operate effectively and efficiently, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new era.

“Currently, the two-level local government model aims to be closer to the people, to promptly resolve the people's legitimate requests. Doing a good job of personnel work, arranging the right people in the right positions will create smoothness in directing and managing socio-economic development,” Mr. Anh affirmed.

Also paying attention to personnel work, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Danh - Chairman of the Democracy - Law Advisory Council, Vietnam Fatherland Front Provincial Committee, said that Gia Lai should promote the selection of officials according to job positions, evaluate performance based on work results, and soon apply the "KPI" indicator.

In addition, it is necessary to continue promoting administrative reform, striving to improve rankings in index sets such as the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI), the Public Administration Reform Index (PAR Index), the index measuring people's satisfaction with the services of state administrative agencies (SIPAS)... to enhance the trust of people and businesses.
