Implementing digital transformation in the field of culture and tourism, Khanh Hoa province is promoting the application of digital technology to enhance the experience for tourists at famous relics and destinations.
Digitizing heritage not only contributes to effectively promoting local cultural values but also creates a new mark for the smart tourism model in the digital age.
In order to meet the increasingly diverse needs of tourists for sightseeing and learning, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province focuses on improving the professional capacity of tour guides, while strongly implementing digital transformation in the work of introducing and promoting relics.
Many forms of technology such as QR codes and VR360 virtual reality have been put into use, helping visitors interact, look up and learn information right on their mobile devices. Thanks to that, the propaganda and promotion of heritage values, museums and destinations in the province have become more vivid, attractive and accessible to domestic and foreign tourists.
At the Po Nagar Towers National Special Monument (Northern Nha Trang Ward), which welcomes thousands of visitors every day, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Monuments Conservation Center has deployed an automatic explanation system using QR codes. Visitors only need to use their smartphones connected to the internet to scan the code to proactively learn about diverse information about the history, architecture, customs, festivals and unique Cham cultural values of the relic site.

Thanks to the application of this technology, many international tourists can access information in a vivid and intuitive way.
Egor Krytsky, a tourist from Russia, shared: “This is my first time coming to Po Nagar Tower. The scenery here is very beautiful, the tower is ancient and has a sacred feeling. Scanning the QR code in English helps me easily learn about the history and architecture of the tower, bringing an authentic and interesting experience."
Mr. Truong Van Son, Deputy Head of the Po Nagar Tower Management Board, said that the entire relic site, including the gate to the tower, the Mandapa architectural area, the tower doors and the stele, are all equipped with QR codes to help visitors easily access information in Vietnamese and English, in addition to the traditional form of explanation.
According to Mr. Son, the application of digital technology has brought about remarkable results, helping to enhance the experience and create excitement for tourists in their journey to explore Cham culture. The unit also integrates data linking websites and fanpages introducing the system of relics and cultural heritages of Khanh Hoa province, and regularly updates images and documents to serve the needs of people and tourists.
After merging its administrative boundaries with Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa province has 4 heritages recognized by UNESCO (Nui Chua World Biosphere Reserve, Cham pottery art, Central Vietnam's Bai Choi art, Southern Vietnam's Don Ca Tai Tu art); 5 national treasures (Hoa Lai Stele, King Po Rome's relief, Phuoc Thien Stele, King Po Klong Garai's statue, Khanh Son lithophone collection); 3 special national relics (Po Klong Garai Tower, Hoa Lai Tower, Po Nagar Tower); 28 national historical relics, cultural relics, and scenic relics; 241 provincial relics; 12 intangible cultural heritages included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages.
To effectively exploit heritage values for tourism development, Khanh Hoa province is implementing many synchronous solutions such as preserving and restoring relics, recreating traditional festivals, and promoting the image of heritage and landscapes through cultural and tourism events and on digital technology platforms.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province, said that Khanh Hoa is promoting the digitization of cultural heritage for scientific records of ranking relics in the old Ninh Thuan province and reviewing, updating and digitizing scientific records of ranking newly ranked relics in 2025. All information integrated into the system is censored and assessed by specialized agencies, ensuring accuracy, science and easy access for people and tourists.

In the coming time, the province will continue to improve the heritage database, connect with smart tourism applications, creating conditions for tourists to look up, experience and interact more conveniently. Promoting the digitalization of heritage not only contributes to the sustainable preservation of cultural values but is also an important step to help Khanh Hoa tourism become more vibrant, attractive and keep up with the integration trend in the digital age.
Thanks to promoting investment attraction, enhancing promotion and implementing synchronous and effective solutions, in the first 9 months of 2025, the total number of visitors served by Khanh Hoa's tourist accommodation establishments is estimated to reach more than 14.1 million, an increase of 16.5% over the same period (reaching 89.9% of the 2025 plan); of which international visitors are estimated to reach more than 4.3 million, an increase of 18.7% over the same period (reaching 79.8% of the 2025 plan).
Total revenue from tourists is estimated at more than VND 56,540 billion, an increase of 19.2% over the same period in 2024 (reaching 85.1% of the 2025 plan)./.
